I'm not casting aspersions here, however, i'm staggered that a Bosnian University would take a detrimental attitude towards someone with Bosnian ancestry who has made the huge leap of studying in their ancestral homeland, with all the attendant problems that it must have entailed on your behalf. Shame on them.

Have you been behaving well because I know you had issues at your hall of residence in England?
Well the issue is more with UCL. I study Serbian and Croatian, the language classes have a 50/50 split between Serbia and Croatia (nothing on Bosnia). It's the same with the literature classes. All the lecturers in my department are also either Serbian or Croatian, (one of them is a consultant for the Croatian government...) It's within their interests to only stick to Serbia and Croatia. I turn up and I'm not really interested in either and it doesn't sit well with them or the department as a whole. The University of Sarajevo is surprisingly fair/equal, you can choose to focus on any of the 3.

Fair enough ES. I think if Scotland got independence (which isn't going to happen) I'd apply for a passport as soon as I could*. Just gives you options.

*when your British passport runs out you mean? No chance a Scot would spend money on two passports!

Do you think if you grew up in Bosnia you would have embraced your English side?  I can understand why it's the other way around but I am interested.

Don't let it get you down. Great day for Bosnia and its full blooded emergence onto the world stage. I can't speak for the specifics but that sounds like a fucked up situation. University is overrated anyway, fuck 'em.

I love being English don't get me wrong but being different is good, it's interesting to other people. I exaggerate my Bosnian-ness in England, and I exaggerate my Englishness in Bosnia. I could never live in Bosnia, it's 70's Britain but without the good bits, only the bad.

I know this sounds counter-intuitive, but surely they will stop you at the airport if your visa has run out? I have bo idea about Bosnian immigration rules though...

Fancy my chances of being able to leave the country, as opposed to entering it.

See I'd be relieved at missing that.

Is it because you feel you have met your workmates down by not being there to help (which I don't think you have BTW)?

I see, you get too many 'cat stuck in tree' jobs. Actually, do people really ring the fire brigade with that kind of problem?
