This is another pet hate of mine, this whole fuss about clubs being sponsored by pay day loan companies and politicians coming out against this. They are operating within the law, if they are not take action, if you don't like them ban them but don't use football as a way of getting soundbites about something you have no plans to do anything about!!

I *think* the way it works in practice is that the islamic bank buys you the thing you want and charges you more for it, paid back in installments.  So you could buy a house worth £100,000.00, the islamic bank will sell it to you for £170,000.00 and you repay them that amount over the thirty years.

Or the other way of arranging an Islamic mortgage (Ijara) is essentially a hire purchase. The bank buys the house and you pay a rent. At the end of the lease, the bank hands over the property.
