His late night phone in in the late 1980s was compulsive listening.  Not really sure why, but it was.  Everyone in my year at school seemed to listen.

This was absolutely true. Weird to think of it now and I couldn't tell you why either, but everyone listened to it.

I think he left GWR after his boyfriend killed himself, or at least that's what my hazy memory tells me.  I remember another rumour doing the rounds at our school that he was suspended for an April Fool's prank about a planet or comet or something being visible that night, which led to a kid climbing onto his roof, from which he subsequently fell and died.

I remember being too scared to get up and turn the radio off in the dark when he did one of his paranormal shows.  I must have been a right little puss.

Think you might be mixing up your late night phone in DJ's there Amir, as I thought it was Caeser the Boogeyman who 'got sacked' for that prank. He said you could see a star explode which happened x hundreds of years ago, and rumour was a lad fell out his bedroom window trying to watch.

Although iirc I think 'his sacking' was another one of his wind ups.

Barrett was more prone to ghost story wind ups, the one up ridgeway was good.

The late night phone in was brilliant listening back then.

In all seriousness why not add a like/+1 function to posts, allowing you to vote up/down posts. It saves me valuable seconds instead of having to quote the post in question.

I can't wait to see the hissy fit when they tell him he's not getting any marks for his coursework because he couldn't be bothered to go and talk to them about it.

It's probably the coursework he'll be doing at 3am tomorrow.
