For many years (on & off) I had a goatee, but there's too much maintenance involved with that. Therefore I've opted for the full beard for the last 5 years or so. Luckily I have good coverage and it's pretty dark therefore it looks fucking tremendous, plus the more of my boat-race that I can cover up the better it is for everyone. I am 40 now though, and more & more of my face-pubes are gradually turning grey.
All I do is trim it with my hair clippers (no. 1) every 10 days or so and I'm good to go.

I've been getting a bit fucked off with my razor and the alternatives. I won't pay out for the hype that is 5 blade madness from Gillette or even 3 for that matter, but read an interesting article in my search and thought some of the more sophisticated pube faces amongst you might be interested. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/6886845It basically boils down to the consensus that the old fashioned double edged safety razor is the best shave coupled with old fashioned Italian or English shaving creams and a badger hair brush. So bought the cream and brush and am gonna wait on the razor until i run out of my current version. Anyone gone this route?

I've got one of the five blade hype things and think they work rather well, but then I do only use it once a week

The Wilkinson sword ones clog up after one use, thus rendering them useless

For some reason, all Gillette razors with more than 2 blades ruin my skin (rash, white heads, ingrowing hairs). I also fail to see how 5 blades is better than 2, apart from the less strokes myth, but then that's just me.

Is it not itchy? @Barry, only ever have a shave when you come out of the bath, shower etc, it softens the bristles and opens the pores and makes shaving less of a chore, tho I can still only be arsed once a week

the best thing about a beard is shaving it off and giving yourself the various styles on the way back to smooth face
I never get tired of shaving it off, and then fashioning various moustache types. I firstly go for some good old fashioned handlebars, to porn star, to Hitler. At each interval I ask the Mrs what she thinks, the joke is now very old (for her), but I find it fucking hilerious every time.

Ha, ha, great thread, especially Ben's "clean shaven I look like Clare Balding". I'm now seriously tempted to grow a beard, just for the partial stage shave off as so brilliant described by NN. Although obviously I won't because I have to drop my kids off at school and don't want to look like I'm hanging round the playground

I may well be shot down in a big fat ball of flames here and I will be standing by for the incoming, but shall we see how many moustaches we can get in the Town End for Brighton at home?
