Ward won't be coming back. We need to get over it.

anyone know how long ward has left on his contract at bolton? seem to remember him signing an extension with them. doubt fitton would come up with the cash needed for him, considering we've basically signed ritchie.

I think whatever the Adver. will be running will probably be Fitton's way of getting a "hopeful" story out about the club. Trying to take peoples minds off the team not playing so well. It's obvious he won't come back if we're signing Ritchie - just a waste of money, unless Austin goes and Ward is the targeted replacement.

Couldn't see him coming back if Charlie went.  As somebody mentioned they're good mates and I seem to remember reading somewhere a while back that Ward loved playing alongside Charlie.

Or if McGovern leaves and he continues to play Ritchie on the right

Or if Ward is signed to play up top, seen as he's a striker. Not sure why Ritchie signing has anything to do with it, and I'd be all for Wardy playing alongside Charlie until the summer, if he's fit.

I’m always sceptical about players returning for a second stint, more often than not they fail to live up to over the top expectation levels placed on them

If he was back to full fitness he would surely have more Champ clubs sniffing around him again.  I’ll happily have him but I doubt he will be the saviour some people make out.

Out of interest, how much do people think Ward is worth at the moment?

I suppose has had a similar career to Ritchie, a few appearances in the top 2 flights but looks good in league 1 so on that basis he could go it for something not too far north of the £125k Ritchie value.

I personally think he should be valued around the £500k mark though.

Maybe it's the fond memories, but I thought Wardy was in another league in terms of ability compared to your average loanee. It seemed to me that he was in the Jimmy Davis or James Milner mould of an obviously very talented youngster who will be exceptional when older.

In fact I think he was better than both of those. Which is why I think I'd have a brain haemorrhage if he joined us on a perm, because a great many teams in the champ and prem would have had to have been stupid to have let a poxy league 1 team get him. (Hence why we wouldn't get him on a perm.)

He's got nowhere near Bolton's first team, and he's been injured a lot. So you never know, this could be the time that a bid would really tempt Bolton?

It would have to be a big one though. Probably have to break our transfer fee record.

But I think a sum around a million would pay off if he stayed fit for us. Top top quality. Future England player if he stays fit. Something a bit special for a special player? Im sure Fitton is very very tempted! It would be magic.
