Well, it's probably because they can choose from quite a few. I remember trying to get some lined-up for game to be used in the TE, was given a resounding no by everyone concerned at the club as it was on a list of banned items from football grounds in the Uk, the mere acceptance of it would have brought our safety certificate under review - thus closing the ground.

Hmm... I was typing out a post admitting I'd done numerous silly things involving fire in my youth, but then realised you cunts would just chastise me for it so thought better of it Me too, I almost owned up to being one of a group of young chaps that might have fired off a couple of flares back in the late 70's, perhaps in a game at the CG against Arsenal.

Will that be the same for Orient? The safety certificate bit?

Orient didn't willingly allow it into the ground, so I can't see them getting into grief on that count and the officer from London Fire Brigade that came to check it out didn't arrive until well after it was all dealt with, so probably won't pick up on their pretty woeful attempts to deal with it. If I was an Orient fan who sits in the east stand I would want to know why, in a stand with wooden boarded floor and wooden seats, there didn't seem to be any proper firefighting equipment available to the stewards.

I stood on the bank during the premier league year and someone lit a flare in front of me but it looked like a large flower pot and was just left in the middle of the terrace, I didn't notice straight away that everyone around me had moved away

Will it be Public Order Act 1986?
Fireworks etc. 3. The following shall be inserted after section 2 (offences in connection with alcohol, containers etc. at sports grounds)- " Fireworks 2A.-(1) A person is guilty of an offence if he has an etc. article or substance to which this section applies in his possessionr- (a) at any time during the period of a designated sporting event when he is in any area of a designated sports ground from which the event may be directly viewed, or (b) while entering or trying to enter a designated sports ground at any time during the period of a designated sporting event at the ground. (2) It is a defence for the accused to prove that he had possession with lawful authority. (3) This section applies to any article or substance whose main purpose is the emission of a flare for purposes of illuminating or signalling (as opposed to igniting or heating) or the emission of smoke or a visible gas ; and in particular it applies to distress flares, fog signals, and pellets and capsules intended to be used as fumigators or for testing pipes, but not to matches, cigarette lighters or heaters. (4) This section also applies to any article which is a firework.".

So these lads got arrested, were deprived of their liberty for fuck knows how long, and the stupid fucking pigs still dont know what law they were breaking?? I'd sue the cunts for wrongful arrest And the firework section (ammendment) of the public order act, helpfully posted by Brighton Red - thanks for that, BR - seems to suggest that its an offence to have flares or fireworks on your person. It doesn't mention being illegal to let the fuckers off!

the adver report says some mesh caught alight.if so, that makes it a more serious incident.
