We let him go when we had the opportunity to keep him,  whether he would of stayed is debatable, but with a decent Chairman/Manager/Squad there's no reason why he would not have stayed.  Unfortunately we didn't even have one out of the three !.

Once the pandemic hit I don’t think we’d have had the resources to match Blackpool’s bid or contract offer to Yates.

The previous January was the window we should have pushed the boat out and signed him. He would have been a better investment than 4 months of Doyle.

He’s a main target for Bristol City, apparently. Maybe less so now Blackpool have gone up.

He’ll be worth low millions now I reckon.

23 goals and 9 assists this season another gem we let slip through our fingers, he would have kept us up single handed, Thanks Lee.

As much as I hate that fat prick, I reckon he regrets this one as much as we do.

Very much his MO when it comes to buying & selling players, although obviously there was never any guarantee that Yates would have enjoyed a similar season if he'd come to us instead.

You can guarantee that Power will be kicking himself in not investing in Yates, any way to make some money, Power will be livid! which is a good thing!

Rotherham let him go. He wasn’t our player so he was never ‘staying’. I don’t think we ever had the opportunity to ‘keep’ him as there wasn’t a credible effort to buy him. If we had a decent chairman there may have been a chance of buying him.

Nice bit about ‘Dave’. Obviously him and Wellens didn’t hit it off.

As stated previously on here Wellens does have a bit of history of falling out with players.

My reply was to your post. I’m pointing out he wasn’t ours to keep and therefore we didn’t let him go.

I think we’d agree that Power didn’t do enough to buy him from Rotherham, obviously.

Agreed,  but he could have been ours had our circumstances been different, he was available as Blackpool found out, and took full advantage of.

One time Town target Bradley Orr making a bit of a prat of himself and claiming the magna carta defence.

Always had to question his sense when he joined City instead...

Ah the Magna Carta defence; the only defence known to man that is actually worse than our defence last season
