I'm surprised at this, I thought the scare story cycle would go for Asteroids or Giant Solar Flares or something else spacey before we had another flu effort. Surprised and Disappointed. Space is cooler than germs.

I read last week that sometime in 2011 we are due a huge solar storm that will knock out all electricity and change civilised life as we know it.

Is that 'we are due' as in there's been one every 100,000 years?

I always liked the magnetic pole switching thing which is supposed to happen at random intervals. Not sure that fucking up compasses would be too much of an issue though.

The only people who would notice would be scouts, and they'd be lost for weeks before realising what had happened.

What a fucking hypochondriac:

Quote
There have been no confirmed cases so far in Europe.

Chris Clarke, a British businessman from Northampton, had a false alarm when he began to feel unwell after flying out of Mexico on Friday.

He told BBC News: "I was watching the [BBC] News channel last night - clearly the story was escalating. I have two young children so I am conscious I don't want to bring anything back. I called NHS Direct.

"They said there were lots of things that could cause my symptoms but said I should be seen by my local practitioner and asked me to call my out-of-hours service, which I did."

Mind you, I might be able to blag a week off work because of this if I play my cards right.

Here's a map of all the infected so far:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=p&msa=0&msid=106484775090296685271.0004681a37b713f6b5950&ll=32.639375,-110.390625&spn=15.738151,25.488281&z=5

It's a bit like the movie 28 days later.
