What a team Villa had in the early 80 's with him and Peter Withe up front. I can still name the entire side that beat Boro 3-0 in 81 to clinch the league title. I'd struggle to name 3 or 4 from the current side...

Cracking team with Tony Morley on the wing and Sid Cowans pulling the strings in midfield creating chances for Shaw and Withe up front.

Great storey, miss players like Morley with his old fashioned wing play.

I don’t remember him being here but apparently he made five appearances for the reserves in 1989.

I think you're thinking of David Geddis, Don't think Gary Shaw played for the Town

McAvennie played under Gorman in 93/4. The pic above (GWR/Spall) is 89-91.

Gary Shaw made a few reserve appearances for Town at the end of his career for certain but never got near a contract, he must have been around 30 to 32 at the time.

Didn’t he have a dodgy knee at the time?

It was a joint inury knee, hip or ankle yes. It was either just before or just after he played for Shrewsbury IIRC.
