Have you read the adver tonight Herthab?...its not just aimed at a few Mongs...read what he said...its disgusting, alot of people who comment on the forums can only wath a few matches because of expense etc...if he had been a success and the comments aimed at him were good those same mongs would be the salt of the earth, you cant generalise with comments he made....theres alot of good people on the forums who just dont rate him...me for one....call me Mong!
I understand what your saying about the idiots Herthab but if you read the Leeds and Leicester Forums the shit the managers receive on them are unreal....and they are top teams in our LGE,you wont see them respective managers slgging those forun fans off....they got more sense.

“Some of the people on forums are constructive, but there is the few morons, donuts and whatever else you want to call them, who are the ones that really get under my skin.

Taken directly from the article Leefer.

Notice the word 'few' in that statement. He's not launching an attack on all internet/forum users, just the few.

Its a shame Herthab cos i think Fitton wanted to keep him here..not sure he will now,hes obviously a good coach but for me in those comments has shown management isnt for him yet...but could make it one day...as you state the pressure hes under is unreal and the players should be getting the brunt, they let him down squandering points a plenty, not a few loonies on the forum.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he should've come out and said it.

But we all know he's right.

Well, in recent weeks Mick McCarthy, Roy Keane and Kevin Blackwell have all had a pop at "boo-boys", "vocal minorities" etc in their own fanbase. It's not like Byrne's the only one who's responded like this.

Pauld...the internet forum is a medium they have to get used to,they take the plaudits when things are going well....you are part of a trust that wants fans to get nearer the players and club as a whole, most fans on the forums are top fans...why would a manager want to whine about the minority who abuse them....we are in a modern age with them earning modern day wages....if a few idiots are going to upset them then they are in the wrong job....incidently how many fans have been banned from the forums for over the top abuse....none as ime aware, its mainly frustration and not really personal.

Apart from the fact that I'm no longer on the Trust board (although still a member so yes still part of the Trust) I wouldn't disagree with any of that leefer to be fair. I was just saying that Byrne isn't the only manager who's hit out over this kind of thing recently and it's not even just confined to football, it affects all walks of life. As a culture, we're struggling to adapt to the "keyboard warrior" concept where people feel they can say things on forums they wouldn't dream of saying down the pub with their mates, never mind face to face with the person they're having a pop at. And both the keyboard warriors and the targets need to learn how to adapt to it, the one lot by thinking "I wouldn't say this in the pub because would think I was a right twat" and the managers/politicians/soap stars etc need to learn to be a lot thicker skinned. But having been on the receiving end of some of that kind of treatment myself to a MUCH lesser extent, I have a lot of sympathy.

But I have to say, Byrne seems to have struck a chord today with a lot of people both on and off forums who are saying "Fair play about time someone said something". There's a lot of people fed up with the constant, nut-grinding negativity from a very small vocal minority who don't even seem to have anything to say other than "It's all shit". Over and over and over again. Easy to say rise above it, but I've got a lot of time for the view that it needed saying. Perhaps might have been better if it hadn't been said by someone on the playing staff and perhaps not in the way it is, but maybe it did need saying if only before the new manager (my mate arriba says Dowie's nailed on by the way) comes in and has to go through the same shit Malpas and Byrne have had for the past year.
