the season long-loans are my saving grace. i've got two arsenal youngsters (coquelin and someone-thomas)as my centre mids, along with elyjoffson (spelt wrong) in defence which gives my team a nice strong core.

at the end of my first season i managed to swoop ruddy (gk) on a free, along with two young full-backs (rene martis and someone daniels from spurs) and alton thelwell to complete my defence. another youngster on the left wing (scott goldbourne) and i managed to sign andy barcham (played for gills the other day vs villa) from spurs who i had on loan the season before.

for my strikers i signed gifton noel-williams, dean bowditch (also had him on loan the season before), pawel abbott (scored a couple but otherwise injured), and some brute called akinfenwa from nothampton.

its working pretty well, playing nice passing football and unbeaten 35 games into my second season, in league 2. i draw quite a few matches but can cope with that away from home. when i draw at home its almost always because their keeper has played a blinder or just being unlucky.

question though: during matches my assistant almost always advises me that the gap between my defence and midfield is too big, and the gap between my midfield and strikers is too big also. how do i correct this? do i need to correct this? i play with the slider half way between wide and narrow, and half way on defence pushing up.

This was bugging me for ages and so I did a bit of research on the net.

The general concensus on the forums was to ignore it, it's never really been a problem for me.

you're defenders are set too defensive and will take up a position too deep regardless of your defensive line.

move the slider up and you'll find that idiot shuts hit pie hole (yes you byrne). i learnt that from the manual on tactics sam upped a while back

OK.

So now I have a gap between my midfield and defence, how do I sort that out?

I'm quite new to Fm, so haven't bothered to trawl through the thread.

1st season I finished about 14th with Swindon and got sacked. Cracking.
Got appointed by Hampton & Richmond, was predicted mid-table at best and finished 4th. Lost in the play-offs to Grays though!

My latest FM problem is that i can't score goals. Just starting Feb and i've conceded 9 goals, but only scored an average of 1.1 goals a game. I draw 0-0 every other game and it's getting on my nerves. My strikers are also averaging a rating of just over 5 a game.

Any tips?

This is doing my fucking nut in now.

I finish 10th in the Championship, strengthen my squad an am looking forward to a play-off push the next season.

So I start the new season, I can't play for shit, I can't pass and I am rock bottom after 6 games without a win.

Meh!.

after a string of games where i got nowhere with swindon, liverpool, lillestrom, qpr, southampton and tried to make my own tactics, i decided to go for easy mode and downloaded some tactics and am playing as inter.

just won serie a with four games to go. in all competitions i've p47, w41, d4, l2.

it's quite fun :-)

Hahaha brilliant Nev.

I've not got into this.  I start off as the Twon but spend ages trying to find players who basically cost nothing

Koki Mizuno (Usually get him for a nominal fee + add ons)
Seyfo Soley (Free but generally shit for thefirst half of the season)
Michael Morton (Nominal fee, versatile and is excellent at this level)
I get Lukas back on loan with no wages for the season and a couple of Arsenal loans on the same basis.

Then I just can't get any consistency but I guess that just proves how realistic it is!

Ship out some dead wood if I can but can't get rid of Nalis (nor release on free) Marshall or awankah. Nalis pisses me off because he's shit and on 2k a week.

Then I get bored and start again a week later.
