I guess here is as good a place as any. Between 6pm on Friday 30th October and 6am on Monday 2nd November, Sky Movies is giving a Free Weekend Pass to non-Sky Movies subscribers on Screen 1/HD (ch 311/314). Doesn't look that great, but it's free. http://freeweekend.skycreative.tv/

Thought that was good'un.

No probs. If you want the truly epic, see if you can find the Soviet 1968 (I think), not the 1958 version of War and Peace. I think one of the battle scenes lasts for 45 minutes and had a cast of 120,000 extras. Cost something like $700m in todays money. Some others that you've already probably seen - Stalingrad, Life is Beautiful, Europa Europa, Yamato. Re-watched Man from Earth today and that's bloody brilliant if you don't mind films being set entirely in one place and involve no action whatsoever. Great film though.

Not seen Yamato, will look that one up, Stalingrad is an old fave.

Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee was alright. Its like the Office vs Spinal Tap but nowhere near as good as either. Some good characters and a decent story, but I can't help think that if they'd spent a bit more money on it, and taken a little longer than a week to film it, it could have been really good. Considering Meadows and Considine teaming up in stuff like Dead Mans Shoes it was a bit of a let down.

My usual viewing continues due to having 2 young kids.
Watched UP the other day. Very good and surprisingly sad film on a couple of occasions. I admit to having a tear in my eye!

i have that to watch at some point. watched paranormal activity last night, was ok, jumpy in parts, but films like that just dont scare me. Still worth a watch.

i've watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it, it's not clever but then it's an action film
