Have you seen "The Devil's Backbone"(same director) Si?Think you'd like that as well
No I haven't but after watching Pan's Labyrinth I read that it's supposed to carry on some of the themes from The Devil's Backbone. I'm certainly looking forward to The Hobbit films.

I found a copy of Lucky Number Slevin so watched that tonight. Another film where I did not expect too much but found it quite enjoyable even though some of the plot twists were obvious there were a couple which tied up the story nicely which I didn't foresee.

I watched Ghost Town on Saturday night. It was a shame to see Gervais doing a comedy film that was so hollywood ie too cheesy and not very funny. He should stick to doing really funny TV series not making unfunny hollywood movies. Or at least get more writing input into the script to make the jokes better. He looked a bit funny too like he had too much make up on.

I watched Ghost Town on Saturday as well. Not Gervais at his best, but I still think he put his own brand on it. You really had to understand Gervais' comedy to find it funny, which I did.

Watched The Escapist, about a prison break, not bad, although the ending was a bit weird. 6/10

He looked funny with a lot of makeup because he was a ghost It was a bit shit, better than Run Fatboy Run, but in the same style.

I do "get" his comedy. I've seen the office loads of times, extras quite a lot of times, most of his stand up stuff and even a bit of his older stuff. Why do you assume if someone didn't like the film very much they don't understand his comedy? I think if it was his film and he had had total control over it it would have been better. But there should have been more jokes and they should have been funnier and it was a bit cheesy. Why do hollywood comedies always have to have this really obvious moral bolted on to them. The point of a comedy should be funny. Having a moral or message can be done eg the Extras Christmas special but it isn't necessary to have a good comedy.

Watched All the Boys Love Mandy Lane last night.
It was shit. It wasn't scary, it wasn't funny and it didn't have a good plot.
Even by dumb teen horror standards it was bad.

Watched 'Mutant Chronicles' last night - fairly standard 'mutants attack the earth, brave group of selfless heroes embark on a mission to save the rest of the world' fayre. Very brown though.

Yep. Half the film takes place underground, and it looks like its been filmed in brown. Everything has a browny-tinge to it.
