Was mentioned by someone else earlier, but I watched The Diving Bell and the Butterfly this weekend - it is a superb and moving film.

I watched the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre last night. Heard years ago it was really good and only just got round to watching it. It wasn't as good as I thought it might be and nowhere near as good as the original.

Overall I think the differences to the plot didn't improve the film but rather took away from it a bit. The classic "grandpa" scene where they're all sat round the table with her tied up wasn't even in it. The lead actress was hot tho and there were a few good bits where she was hiding from leatherface.

journey to the centre of the earth passed an hour and a half, fit scandanavian bird. its 3d i think but my version wasnt, loads of gobbing on the screen and the like which i imagine would have looked quite cool.

Watched 'Defiance' yesterday - pretty good, especially considering as I have this habit of writing off anything that Daniel Craig has been in for no apparent reason.

Yes it is based on that book.

Metro said its a bit more arthouse or thoughtful than other hooligan films or something. But it still features kids running around with stanley knives. They gave it 4 stars I think.

a short review...

I've still got that book somewhere, I remember the edges looked like hazard tape in black and yellow.
