I just couldn't get over the basis of why the daughter was kidnapped in 'Taken'. It definitely wanted to be more of an action flick than a crime thriller, but it could never choose which it wanted, which is why it's only an average film.

Yes but why did they pick women that weren't from the Eastern block? Apparently because they're worth more but surely it's cheaper to source the other kind of women, who they could bulk sell?

Neeson's suspicions of going to Paris were all but confirmed. It was far too OTT and unbelievable. If it was an all out action flick then the plot would be less open to scrutiny, but it wanted to be more sophisticated than that and it didn't work in my opinion.

I've not read the book, but I'm sure it would be better.

Out of interest, are there any facets of the storyline that haven't been revealed here?

Maybe. Or maybe they didn't ever think an ex-spy would get mediaeval on their asses. Fools, it was always going to happen eventually.

I did miss out the bit where the smackhead mother joins in for a bit of a mother/daughter special.

I saw the Boat that Rocked on Saturday.  Very disjointed and poorly written.  Some poor acting performances.  Yet - I smiled all the way through and the soundtrack was, to unashamedly use an expletive and a cliche, fucking rocking.

Just watched the new xmen film. Was pretty good.

See the new Green street movies out soon. Don't think I'll bother. Just set in a jail.

Watched Let the Right One In again last night. Excellent.

Also dunno if I already mentioned on here but watched Black Book recently after buying it ages ago and having it sit on my shelf. First time I've watched a WW2 film since seeing Downfall. Pretty good. A lot of twists in the plot.

Watched the boat that rocked last night, enjoyed it a lot. Going to watch Fifty Dead Men Walking at some point today - it's based on a true story from 1980s Belfast, about spying and the IRA and shit.
