As you've read the book and admittedly I haven't... You'll have your own vision of the character.

Who would you have casted?

I got the sequel on DVD in September and still haven't got round to atching yet.  Classic film though.

I've just finished reading Factotum by Charles Bukowski, and am now about to watch the film. Would definitely recommend Post Office and Factotum if anyone is on the lookout for good books, he is a big drinker and gets up to all kinds. his writing is hilarious. I am going to watch the film in an appropriate mood: with a whiskey and a smoke.

I couldn't understand how factotum could be made into a film, then when I saw Matt Dillon was the lead I decided definately not to watch it.  Not a great book I wouldn't say anyway, Ham On Rye is his best by far IMHO.

Just looking on IMDB, I see Corey Haim has a part (presumably cameo) but can't spot any other originals.

But i digress, I love the way some characters are described:
Lindsay Maxwell   ...    Hot Girl at Party
   Karolina Turek   ...    Latex Girl
   Ildiko Ferenczi   ...    Latex Girl
   Jennifer Rostad   ...    Topless Girl

I thought it would be a good film, his snappy writing and dialogue lends itself to a transfer to film. Many of the lines which I thought would sound ace in a film were missed out though, and the pace and humour of the novel had drained away.

Women is on its way to me, then onto Ham On Rye.

Today I bought Be Kind Rewind, Assasination of Jesse James and Vantage Point... We shall see whether they are anything of note.

I haven't finished BKR, not all that - The Ghostbusters bit was good though. Enjoyed Vantage Point, twas a bit of a guilty pleasure. Assassination of Jesse James was a long haul, but I liked it.

I saw 'Hunger' last weekend. Its about Bobby Sands and the 1981 Hunger Strikes by IRA terrorists.

The cinema was silent for a good few minutes when the credits rolled, nobody moving or speaking. Quite an effect and not a reaction I've ever seen before.

Well worth a watch and a brilliantly done film. Not sure whether its possible to enjoy a film so brutal and horrible, but I'm glad to have seen it.
