pacific rim - worst film I've seen in ages. clichéd, shitly executed plot, mainly crap actors. 2 wasted hours.
but the special effects guys earned their crust and the cinematography was superb.
My son has been trying to get me to watch that forever. Bullet dodged. Thanks Batch

Tried to watch all the Star Wars over the Christmas period. Watched 4, 5 and 3/4s of six then gave up. It's so incessently dull and generally shit, and I can't see why people find it that popular tbh

Bullet dodged. Thanks Batch in fairness this film seems a bit Marmite, a lot of people liked it. to me it was three action sequences for 15 minutes and 1hr 50 mindless and nonsensical plot that was very tedious. I mean why the fuck would you need to put people IN the robots. better not say any more... spoilers..

Think this might have something to do with the fact they are kids films maybe! If you didn't get in them as a child I'd be really surprised if you watched them now and thought they were the best films you've ever seen. I mean even as an 8 year old the thought of the Ewoks helping to defeat the empire seemed a little far fetched, as an adult is a terrible storyline. The new film has reignited a child hood memory spark for the older viewer, and hopefully will prove popular with today's younger viewer too.

Are they? With all the adults wanking over them incessantly you could be forgiven for expecting them to be cinematic masterpieces.

Empire Strikes Back is a genuinely good film. The rest are rather helped by the goodwill most viewers will have for the series.
The prequels are horrendous, but watchable in a "I can't believe they thought this would work" kind of way

See previous post. There is a reasonable explanation for this.

It's no different to someone 'fresh' watching Swindon and thinking 'this is pretty shit'. It's the emotional attachment over time that brings you closer to a football club. Same with Star Wars any adult who watched the new film last week (without seeing any of the others) and 'wanking over them' needs their heads reading.

Each to his own. I was a kid when the first film came out and remember enjoying it at the cinema, but that enjoyment never grew into the fanaticism that is engendered by many for the series.

Ask your Norwegian friends and relations if they have too. Most of the people I worked with in Stavanger hadn't a clue that it existed. Strange as my mate over there insisted that he had a pet troll in the barn when he was little.
