The King of Kong
Somehow a documentary about Donkey Kong players is probably the best documentary I've ever seen

I watched that when it was recommended on here (possibly on this thread, but I think someone may have created a documentary-specific thread at some point?). Really enjoyed it.

I see Richard Ayoade has a film coming out this year, The Double. I really enjoyed Submarine so I have high hopes for this. Anyone heard anything much about it?

Also enjoyed Submarine so will definitely watch his next project.
I had the misfortune to sit through Apocalypto the other night. It has great reviews but I thought the storyline was pretty basic and it was badly acted, particularly the main character who stared A LOT.

I watched Skyline last night, after recording it a few days previous. I can only presume it was made for a laugh, because it's one of the worst films I've seen; although maybe it's one of those "so bad, it's good" films - not that I can see how.
I did stay watching though, not sure why, it was total gash. What is funny is that it clearly had a huge budget for fx, yet no story, script or characters. I bet heads rolled when that hit the cinemas.

I watched that when it was on telly the other week. Like you say, brilliant CGI but completely devoid of any kind of plot.

Alien. Superb, 1979 but could've been made yesterday.

Yesterday I finally got round to Argo, which I thought was enjoyable but not worthy of the extreme high praise it received.
Today I watched an oldie; Walk Don't Run, which I also enjoyed.

I went to see it solely on the basis that it starred Donald Faison and I was going through a major Scrubs phase at the time, a really cool idea with the aliens but so badly executed as a film it was unreal. The bit at the end? Oh my fucking god, if I wasn't with my Mum and her partner at the time I would have stood up and walked out "Done" - Peter Griffin sylee.

Finally got around to watching Prometheus - what a crock of crap - massive let down. I think I'll stick to Alien and Aliens.
