Playing out from the back is not a strength of his, and not necessary for a Holloway team. Maybe, Bycroft wanted a move because of his ability was not being fully utilized. Bycroft is in my opinion is a decent enough goalkeeper as a shot-stopper and playing it out from the back but wasn't a good enough fit for this side including not consistently finding the front three with longer clearances. Too many long balls going out for opposition throw-ins seemed to occur.
Agree totally, fairly decent shot stopper, not a bad long ball distribution with throws and kicking but his overall reading of the game was poor.
He made some terrible decisions coming off his line and he couldnt catch a cross to save his life, but that doesnt seem to be a huge part of the game now. Many managers seem to like a keeper to save shots and not command their area and let defenders do the defending - and there lies the problem....Bycroft didnt have a defence that could adequately deal with crosses either which highlighted his lack of command of area.
I still think he could well come good in a few years but he does need to improve his all round ability by a fair bit, his style may not suit lower league teams though where most teams hump balls into the box regularly.
