I wonder if there is a possibility we’ll get him back on loan for the season.
Repeating myself but from the game time he had I thought he looked very good & our most promising youth prospect possibly since Sean Morrison?
I would have expected him to feature this season.
I don’t think that would suit either party to be honest. We’d want a more readily usable player to take a loan spot and Boro would either want him at a club where he’s going to play a good amount of minutes or within their own academy setup to develop in house where they also have a U23 team (I assume) which provides a step up too. Because he’s only a second year scholar this year and they’ll want him to adapt to their level, I expect they’ll want him in house at least until January and then probably a non league loan where he’ll play every week. As mentioned above, as they’re a club with a U23 team then he’ll have more time to develop there. But I guess it’s not out of the realms of possibility that he’s back here at some point in the future and I’ve been wrong before.

Agreed, I don't think they spend money on a talent that young and then ship him away. They'll keep him close for a period to ensure they imprint their coaching on him.

Thinking of it another way, for Boro, they spend millions on their Academy I imagine. Even if the upfront is a third of the total cost, they've essentially just spent a little more on a player by that age than they would have done internally. This way they know he has hit the grades necessary for the first 10 years or so, so it's probably a neutral cost for them. Now they need to polish him, like the rest of their own Academy players.

Not sure that a loan back of a 16yr old albeit with very good potential is what we need in the season to come.
Hunt has gone to a Cat 1 academy where he will either prosper or fester in the warehouse environment. It's down to him to make the most of a much better coaching environment. At worst his nearest & dearest get to enjoy some decent holidays, top of the range white goods or a new house & early retirement if they are really lucky.
If he does well & meets expectations then that could mean some very good income for the club further down the line depending on the structure of the deal.
He's gone. That's it. As things stand given age & experience Minturn is much the better prospect for an immediate return on investment.

We also have Hart and Johnson on the staff as 'project' CBs - if Hunt does return on loan, I think it'd be a few years down the line.

These sorts of deals are hardly ever about the upfront payments, which are never game changers. It's all about a sell-on - see Maidenhead this past week. You basically have two options at this level - create a pathway for several academy players per season to become first teamers and keep them long enough to get the big deal, or sell early and cross fingers on a future sell on.
Maidenhead got £4m which is great for them. What is cunty though, is Wolves negotiated the sell on down from 20% to 10% as wouldnt pay them the full anount, and told them the deal wouldnt go through if they didnt agree. Tossers. Whats the point of the sell on if you are going to pay the full contractual amount

Yeah absolutely. Though Maidenhead couldn't have expected what they have got in their wildest dreams.

Hearing a rumour of an experienced central defender set to sign today, not Morrison.

Looks like this could be right as Sam M has just said about expecting a defender imminently

Am I the only one who has no recollection whatsoever about him playing for us before? I've looked him up and eveything but still I can't remember a thing about him?!

Yeah he was part of the Spurs loan era. If it is him to we need to revisit the earlier conversation around the number of games per season he has averaged and the pressure that puts on the group of CB's we may or may not have.
