This is all going very Flitcrofty. I don't particularly mean that as criticism, just a sharp change of approach from our last few seasons.

The only similarity is that we are signing players that have played league football before. That’s what normal clubs do.

Here’s a signing I do remember playing against us, for Gillingham, and thinking that we needed a defender like that. He scored too. I would guess I was less impressed for the mauling we have Crawley at home last year. Good signing again. With OGM appearing to be off, we still need CBs if we are to play a 3.

I remember him being awful against us in that 3-3 draw TBH, the goal he scored was a penalty but he was at fault for all of our goals that game.

He was ball watching when Williams scored, who he was marking, gave away the penalty which Austin scored from, and Austin beat him to a near post header.

I will say having watched that quickly it reminded me we had Brennan who just signed for Newport. I know i would prefer Wright over him.

Happy with that Wright signing. Tall CB who can chip in with goals at the other end, is capable on the ball and has a long throw.

Describes himself as a leader too which along with Clarke and Delaney (who was captain at Newport), it seems we are adding the right characters.

No complaints on that one from me. But still need more CB’s with UGM gone.

Wright looks a good signing on paper.

I only said yesterday that Dokes is an asset in the right position in the right formation but as many others have said he’s played a lot of games in our worst team of all time - whilst you could argue his departure is a negative I’m not sure it warrants the out pouring of grief I’ve seen on some of the social media channels. Same fans were probably calling him shit a couple of months back.

Interesting questions.

I'd like a long throw or two having seen us suffer from them.  

Nor do I think many L2 sides manage to carry off passing from one pen area to the other very successfully.  

However, I personally prefer passing football to size-based, "position of maximum opportunity" attack and, let's recall, outside the top 4, only Notts Co. outscored us last season.  Goals scored was great.  It was goal difference through lack of defensive cover on the break that cost us.  Only "rugged" Sutton were leakier.

It's a new chapter and, to my surprise, I am ready to get right behind whoever lines up on the field for us.

The 3rd goal, agreed.

The 1st goal - he was the only defender that tried to close down the shot. Where did you get that he was marking Williams, who came running in from outside the area, from? You think he should have been with him, instead of actually defending the cross?

The penalty.  The ball hit his hand, behind his back. He could do absolutely nothing against it.

Thats fucking hilarious, the ball hits a defenders hand in the box, so its a penalty, every defender knows the rules.

They didnt say the ball accidentally hit the defenders hand and he was unlucky he gave away a penalty, the rules are clear, he handballed the ball and gave away the penalty simple.

Therefore he is at fault for the goal.

And I am by no means saying he is shit before he has played a game just stating that IMO he can be said to be at fault for all 3 goals they conceded after an earlier poster said how he thought that he had a good game.

I heard Wright lives in this direction so he was interested in moving closer - but fair play to whoever is finding these seemingly decent players in this general direction - it seems to be working at the moment
