I was never a fan of Payne, despite him clearly being a good player. I can only assume he would go to MK anyway, more money and a better chance of challenging.

Jack Payne was class, would love to have him back. Would be a huge upgrade on Dawson Devoy, for instance. It might be just me, but not being a fan of a 'clearly good player' is a bit odd.  |

You try to sign Kemp or Payne if you can in League Two though, irrespective of if they've played for you before. You just do.

I'd be pleased if his contract is extended. But its exactly that, a contract extension for a player we were told was ours anyway!
As per my earlier post, right now its about building on last season. Signing McGurk maintains the status quo.

McGurk needs some time to adapt physically IMO. Looks to have all the tools to be proper good.
Possibly why he was used 'sparingly' towards the end of last season. Give him some proper pre-season work and we could have an absolute gem. Hopefully he's on longer than a 1 year deal. |
