No thanks to CA

But if FBT was persuaded to come back I'd be all for it.

FBT would be interesting with a different Manager and experienced pros around him.

I hear that Clem has found some extra funding and is going all out this transfer window hoping to get in at least 3 or 4 more solid experienced players, exactly as he promised Kennedy when he took over.

Where that extra funding has come from is anyones guess though.

Expect 2 new signings this week hopefully with others to follow next week.

Is that not the same as last year though? We brought in Kemp, Dokes and Kinsella but it was the squad that was skimped on and that’s why we were so shit.

With the likes of Austin and FBT gone we obviously need more experienced players than last season.

I’ll reserve judgement until the end of August, we need 17 or 18 players good enough to start on a regular basis, not just the 11 or 12 (at best) we had last season.

Not wishing to cast aspersions, but genuinely, what does Mildy bring to the table? Apart from the historic value what’s his worth?

Extra funding? We need to sign like 11/12 players or something silly.

Do you think there is substance to the rumours of returns for CA and FBT? With regards to Mildenhall he is loyal and a good servant to the club and also apparently a good GK coach. I can’t remember when he started but we have had some decent keepers since he has been here including developing some loan keepers.

I’d say the majority of keepers Mildenhall has worked with have improved.

Exactly this.

Signing a few good players and skimping on a proper squad is the same fur coat and no knickers approach as last year.

Very good goalkeeping coach by all accounts and it's a shame he has not been allowed to really just be left to do that. I would definetly keep him around. Also the historical value should not be overlooked, has done so much for the club when he could easily get another gig somewhere else and has stood in when needed. Added to that i would say most keepers have done well under him and all speak highly of him

Every GK he has had a hand in recruiting since he joined has been decent, and the majority of the time they have improved while they have been here.  His reputation in footballing circles is high and every GK that works under him says his coaching is of a high calibar, so I see no reason why we shouldn't celebrate the only consistent part of our coaching team.

You also need to take into account that because our coaching setup is basically a skeleton staff he is asked to own other areas of coaching outside of the GK's - for example, i believe he has been the set piece coach for the past couple of season.

If we are looking at fixing our backroom problem, then Mildy should be pretty much at the bottom of the list of priorities.
