I know, I agree. No idea where he lives, etc. Just trying to make sense of something that otherwise makes no sense.
Would imagine up around Walsall considering he was there for 8 odd years.
40 minute less commute time each way moving to Cheltenham, up a league and for more financial security in an 18 month deal. No brainer for him.

Don't understand it from the club though - other than cost cutting.

I could understand if it wasn't a club half hour away. The only personal issues i imagine would be with the club

100% this.

Trying to take a step back from it, but none of us care about him leaving do we? Beyond what it may or may not say about the clubs overall strategy, which we knew anyway.

Trying not to get too angry about this one.

I just hope we get some bodies in.

We care in respect to it being one less player on top of our lack of players, and one of the few players with experience that we are not likely to replace.  The name is less relevant with this squad as there aren't many that I would care if they left.

I will reserve my right to get angry at the end of the month. (I'm trying to be optimistic and see how it feels).

Free? FFS. Just pulled into Sainsburys in Shirley (NEC way) for PPS. Be in business meetings this morning in wilds of Herefordshire without any signal.

Only thing I can deduce is the deal on offer was we’ll take him and you cancel his contract.

I imagine he and his agent have pushed for it and Swindon, of course, are happy to let him go.

Having done the Gloucester to Swindon commute, (and he would actually be going to Beaversbrook, wouldn't he?, which is worse) then I can have some sympathy for Kinsella being happy with the move.

The issue, as always, is the actions taken by the club - sell him, OK, but not until we have the person who fills his boots first.  If that player does not arrive, then Kinsella is told he needs to see out the season.  It's the excuse we are sold all the time - we can't get the player we want because the other team hasn't done their business yet.

Kinsella is as close to the only DMC we have at the club and with the other piss weak options we have, leaves us more barren than before. Obviously with the caveat that we might replace him but it's a little disappointing we haven't even got a token small fee for him 30-50k or something. Cheltenham have just sold a striker for 400k last week, it's not like they are totally skint either and we aren't a charity.

I'm not sure we needed to know those important details LL but thanks all the same  Wink

On the offer. I think even if the club had accepted a nominal fee - say Cheltenham matching what is left on his contract as a fee; which probably wouldn't even amount to c40k {assume LK on max c2k pw most likely less}.

That at least gives the club the saving of his wages and c40k. So if even if we reduce that a bit and underplay LKs wage; might have given the club c60k to play with? Would give an opportunity to get 2 experienced frees/rehabilitatees in for the rest of the season or probably 6 free ex prem academy cast-offs to ''invest'' in  Smiley

Or alternatively any fee might have possibly gone to buy in the next batch of belushi  Blink
