What’s this…? Nothing much but some fans complained about Hall's comments via email and, within the responses, he wasn't going on a charm offensive to justify (I have seen said correspondence).

I think quite the opposite from what's being said.

He 100% did not. These are emails in the days immediately afterwards.

The fact they didn’t even try to clarify their comments after the uproar shows he meant it and the contempt they have for us. It’s one of the things I’m going after at the fans forum, you can rile Hall up and get an accurate picture of what they really think.

Fuck me Hutton can do better than Walsall🤣
Can he though? he gets a lot of crosses in but less than 10% and only has 6 assist in the league (he got 3 assists in the Aldershot cup game too). Hes a Walsall lad too so closer to his home, Walsall are more forward thinking than we are as a club too and currently sit higher in the table than we are. Also it will bring in a modest fee (£50k probably) and remove a large(ish) wage. His assists would be a miss but his defending skills far far less so, and Flynn seems reluctant to play him in a more advanced role as a winger with a stronger defender behind him, which I think would work but Flynn doesnt seem to agree. Played in the right role he is good but relying on him as a defender as well is bad.

Maybe you’re right and we believed the hype from the previous transfer window when Peterborough were rumoured to be after him. Spot on about his defensive duties and would probably be better in a 442 formation with a right back behind him.

He’s a bit better than a Poundland Nathan Byrne. A Five Pound Nathan Byrne. A “defender” who belongs on the wing.

He’s a victim of the modern system rather than previous formations!

Here's an example response sent out- To clarify what was said by our CEO Anthony Hall, we have enclosed the below link which clarifies the statement made in terms of the free games discussed during the podcast. Please note this link is from a club statement made on 10th March 2023 before Anthony Hall was our CEO. As you’ll see when referencing back, Anthony’s actual comment was we are looking to work towards having a “sustainable club we need to look at the amount of games that are currently being given away for free.” Football club releases match day and season ticket pricing for 2023/24 - News - Swindon Town (swindontownfc.co.uk) We assure you that all of us at the club are very aware the importance of our ST holders and we want to continue providing an environment that delivers us success and a football team and club overall that you can be proud of. This involves us looking into the revenue streams and looking into every opportunity that the club has in an effort to making the club sustainable in line with our commitment to Fair Game, which of course, the club is a member of. If you have any further issues or points you would like to raise with us, don’t hesitate to get in touch, but we hope you will consider the decisions we are making which are ultimately to the benefit of our football club.

So basically completely ignores the point being made.

This will be vastly unpopular.
But as more and more time goes on, I look back at the job Sandro did with transfers and don't think it was even that bad. At least we were buying our own players.
His issue was being a PR disaster and having such a big role in appointing a manager.
If he had just kept his mouth shut and said what the fans wanted to hear from the beginning he may have stood a chance.
I think the issue with Sandro / the project / recruitment last season was we went ‘all in’ on the project. All our signings fit the same criteria which lead to completely unbalanced squad. Now I remember asking the question at the time - who ultimately made the decision to recruit that specific way. Was it Sandro? Was it Clem? Was it Lindsey? ….let’s say for example we put together 70% of squad under the ‘Sandro method’ and then the remaining 30% under a more ‘what you need to get out of the lower leagues’ method I think we’d have done alright from it. The problem was we recruited 90% of squad under the ‘Sandro’ method which left us lacking in certain areas & even then we got rid of players from that 10% due to reasons that a year later are still internet Chinese whispers. So, would love some of the ITKers to spill on who made the decision to recruit the way we did under Sandro.
