Just notice that ‘joins FGR for an undisclosed fee’.

Okay, that's a good signing on paper. Lavinier out isn't ideal, but I think a net positive, a backup player 'for' a first team olayer. Obviously does mean Hutton must stay.

I agree with this view. Having lavs strength on the bench is less important to having it on the pitch with this new lad. Shade is essentially back up for both wing back roles anyway I think. Get this crewe lad in for left side and things look better for first game. With an experienced cb still needed.

Delighted with the signing. Ideal for what we are aiming to do formation wise. Young and quick with promotion experience and plenty of games under his belt.
Shame Lavs has gone. I liked him.

Whatever other views and reflections may be, this feels like good evidence of Flynn's determination to progress his plans.

Maybe the fee for Lavinier is a nominal fee with the understanding that they waive rights to any tribunal money they would have got? Can’t see it being a huge fee. Delighted with the incoming signing. Lots of potential, I hope we would give him a decent contract as he is proven at this level and will only get better. He is the kind of player I would be happy if we gave a 3 year deal plus 1 year option to avoid us getting shafted if he has a decent year for us. Sad to see Lavinier go. Hopefully we have a decent sell on negotiated. We seem to be doing quite well in terms of attracting fees for players in the last year or so; should all help to cut any budget deficit.

Just can't help think Lavinier didn't really want to go to FGR unless Flynn said he wasn't in his plans. Seems a strange move and just hope it doesn't come back to bite us

But we don’t know that do we? Someone speculated that delay in announcement was due to the FGR and someone speculated. He, like others, will go where the money is.

really pleased with UGM. Didn't mind Lavinier but 23 games 2 goals 1 assist is replaceable, a run at rb may well improved those stats mind. CB was a priority and id prefer that over a lwb.

Gotta be honest I’m struggling to get the excitement here. As JJ pointed out earlier we’ve signed a player who would have likely been a 3rd or 4th choice CB at FGR and with Lavinier going the other was it has net zero impact on squad depth.
The fact we have to seemingly ship players out to get these sort of signing despite already having one of the smallest squads in the league is more than slightly concerning.
Other than Kemp there’s not any real sign of us making a statement of intent. I hope this doesn’t age well and things are very different by the end of the window.

I’m very much in the camp of wait and see what we’ve got on our hands after the first few matches before I pass judgement on the players we’ve brought in. Flynn has said he’s surprised at the quality of the squad considering our league position last season - I’m hoping that having players actually wanting to play for the manager, unlike Lindsey and Morris, makes enough difference for us to be competitive this year.

Why are we assuming he would be FGR’s 3rd or 4th choice centre back? He played a large amount of games last season, was a regular in the title winning season and they offered him a new contract?
That doesn’t sound like someone who would be making up the numbers.

Maybe the type of player we have is all that we can afford. Maybe all players at this level are similar. Maybe we are replacing like for like. Maybe Lavinier wanted to leave. Maybe there was a falling out. Maybe FGR offered him more money. We will never know.

This is also a player who Shrewsbury were sniffing around as well as other league 1 clubs. I don’t understand why we are assuming he would be 4th choice at Forest Green?
