Liked Lavinier, sure he'll come good in the future, but 100% trust what Flynn is trying to do.

From his first game when he was our best player to that goal at Northampton I reall thought we had a good player there. Be disappointed if he goes

He turned them down. Got messed about a bit by them last season and doesn't fit into the system that Dunc or the new guys uses (back 4), so wants to move somewhere he fits in and is appreciated. He'll be perfect for Flynn's 3412 system.

100% offered a new contract. https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ten-players-released-forest-green-8460640There are 19 players already tied down for the 2023/24 League Two campaign and long-serving defender Udoka Godwin-Malife has been offered a new contract.

No ITK substance behind this, but Shrewsbury have been linked with Mal Benning, LWB from Port Vale. Shrews fans feel like they don't need a LWB right now and Benning doesn't really scream L1 quality. With us in the market for a LWB, I wonder if there's been some crossed wires down the line and he's been linked to the incorrect 'STFC'

Yeah very good point, i'm sure if this deal was the other way round people would be pointing to the young/inexperienced line.

I would rather we didn't have to replace him. If we do, and we sign someone with the same experience and he looks as good as Lavinier did, with the same "eye test" potential, then all is well and good. Lots of IF's though.

It looks like we are replacing him withthe centre half we all want with around 5 times as many games as him. If we go and sign a player as mentioned at lb as well we effectively need a squad player to replace lavinier.
The biggest issue for me is if we do not sign the LWB or Hutton goes

Which is the worry. Logic tells me FGR are the ones insisting on this, the irrational fear of being an STFC fan is we need to offer him as a makeweight because we can't afford to sign the other chap without doing so and we remain in a revolving door situation.

As we seemingly refuse to announce any signings, I still think the first team (starting XI) needs 2 x CB's and 1 x LWB. I'd like, in a perfect world, to also add that physical player in midfield - box to box, put themselves about a bit type. Then another forward with something different and a back-up keeper for the matchday squad. That's without losing Lavinier.
Essentially I think we are four short in first XI and a further two short beyond that, plus need to replace Lavinier if he goes. Clearly Ward seems nailed on to fill the back-up GK spot, but can't seem to use a pen.

It may not be that deep. Club say how much we say do you want this player who isn’t in the managers first 11 plans
