Yes, our transfer activity seems much less leaky this summer. Probably simply because there are fewer people involved.

Or a certain Technical Director has left?

And the posters that would usually post the odd thing that they have heard have decided that it's just not worth it because of the grief that it brings..

Sincere question

Do you think that Flynn has seen better quality than he first thought

Or

He now understands that there is no funds to improve what he currently has ?

I reckon it’s a mix. Some have genuinely surprised him and some he’s told can move on haven’t been able to secure moves so he needs to keep them sweet, coupled with a realisation of what the market is and how we can’t really compete in it at the moment so we need to work with what we have more than initially hoped.

All of that is just my opinion.

A bit of the first, and that he’s not going to pay average L2 players ridiculous wages.

I'm not sure its either. I think there is a lot going on, that just takes time to come to fruition, as per the Kemp signing.

I would accept the top players, or the attacking players move late in the window, but that your core should be able to be signed up early. I'm surprised he hasn't got the experienced spine that he initially referenced as his focus in yet.

We are all generally in agreement that 6-7 more are needed, and most are okay with starting with the 11 we have. Though i would be happier if it was 3-4 outstanding, and we had brought in a LWB and a couple of CB's at this point.

I'm still holding out hope for a new player before tomorrows game.

I was up for going to Sats friendly, but the lack of new players to watch somewhat dampens my enthusiasm for preseason a little.

That is what has stopped me from going at the mo, I'm lacking a little interest, no new players of note to get excited about seeing, and having to pay £15 to sit in the Arkells I think I will save some money

Given the injury to Clayton, I would NOT be happy starting with our current team at all.  It was shit last season and we've lost a couple from that.  This team was terrible from around November.  Flynn can improve us, yes, but still not expecting much from the team we have right now.

I'm not panicking or anything, I do think it's a decent enough group IF we get the right spine of experience in and set-up to feed Austin.  My mood may change in two weeks if we remain where we are in terms of additions by then though.

But what if that's the average wage for an average L2 player this season?

I guess we're gambling that it can't be. There are clearly 5-6 clubs with significant budgets and the desire to spend them out there at the moment, but they will only want so many players, and of the other 18 or so clubs, I'd be very disappointed if we weren't in the top few of those - so maybe around 8th or something overall in the division for budget. It's just right now most of the players we're talking to are waiting to see if those six big money clubs will come in for them. Hopefully.

Although the evidence against that is Wimbledon signing 9 players, Barrow signing 7, Colchester 8 and Grimsby 10... none of whom are in the 5-6 moneyed clubs I was thinking of (Wrexham, Notts Co, Stockport, Gills, Bradford, maybe Walsall who seem to be doing okay for themselves)

I’m assuming that Flynn has a good idea of what players are being paid around the league.
