That back line is mostly unproven. And we've no strikers. IMO

We'll only know when the season gets going
That’s been the case most pre seasons. Strikers come in late. Untried CBs on loan.

Like most pre seasons. Players in, players out.

Won’t know whether it’s ‘better the devil you know’ till it’s too late anyway…

To an extent.

I guess the way I'm looking at it is we had Hunt, AK, Conroy last season. Known and experienced quantities that do the job (OK Conroy was a bit shit mid season).

This season I don't know. We have a few players that haven't played enough to be sure of their quality.

There is a very fair argument that we ended up bringing in 2 young loans despite all that.

Yup.
Or it could be a disaster.
Or mediocre.
Or

Its not quite the uplift in recruitment I was expecting. Yet.

I thought my match report was fine.

The thing is that I thought we'd kick on this season. last season the mindset was different, survival.

it's just the impression I have at this stage. agree, disagree. right. wrong. we'll see

I’d agree, it feels like we are in pretty much the same place that we were before the start of last season.

I just don't see it myself with players like Reed McKirdy Williams Gladwinnow in the squad with shade who looks a decent prospect. Like Batch says though that's the beauty of it, we will have to wait and see

I think the main issue for a lot of people if that we haven’t addressed the needs that we had last season.

Last season we lacked depth. Currently (…and I stress currently) our squad is no bigger than it was last season. The quality of said replacements are completely unknown as they are mostly youngsters.

Last season we lacked strikers, we basically had one all season - which is still one more than we have now.

Last season game management was an issue and a lot of people feel this was due to lack of experience / presence on midfield. This is still the same.

All we’ve done so far is replaced players that left. We haven’t added the things we lacked last season.

I don’t think (m)any of us are expecting the current squad to be exactly as is come first game of the season.

If it is….then I think alarm bells with start ringing & rightfully so…

But no chance of that either - you told us that a few days ago if I recall correctly.

More confident than last week.

Why?

You said he had till today & he hasn’t signed. So he’s gone.
