Another dull day passes us by
Thought people might be interested in a bit of a summary of business up and down League Two (as per Transfermarkt) to put in perspective how our window is going. Obviously ignores how many were in the squad to begin with but reasonably instructive. AFC Wimbledon: 2 in, 8 out (-6) Barrow: 7 in, 9 out (-2) Bradford: 12 in, 11 out (+1)Carlisle: 5 in, 11 out (-6) Colchester: 2 in, 3 out (-1) Crawley: 5 in, 9 out (-4) Crewe: 5 in, 9 out (-4) Doncaster: 3 in, 9 out (-6) Gillingham: 6 in, 11 out (-5) Grimsby: 5 in, 12 out (-7) Harrogate: 7 in, 10 out (-3) Hartlepool: 8 in, 9 out (-1) Leyton Orient: 7 in, 5 out (+2)Mansfield: 2 in, 9 out (-7) Newport: 8 in, 9 out (-1) Northampton: 6 in, 10 out (-4) Rochdale: 5 in, 11 out (-6) Salford: 3 in, 8 out (-5) Stevenage: 10 in, 14 out (-4) Stockport: 7 in, 9 out (-2) Sutton: 3 in, 7 out (-4) Swindon: 7 in, 7 out (0) - outs don't include Payne or Hunt yet Tranmere: 9 in, 8 out (+1)Walsall: 12 in, 9 out (+3)Looking at that alone, it seems like we're probably further ahead than most clubs in squad construction. Only four clubs have more ins than outs, and more than half the division has fewer signings than us. Just feels like a lot of players are waiting for offers at a higher level to happen/not happen before considering L2. It's frustrating as fans, but it's not unique to Swindon.

Never understood the 5pm bollocks. What difference does it make when an announcement is made.
I suppose there may be a new triallist or 2 at Supermarine tomorrow. I’d say Darcy is a cert.

Internet/Social Media traffic I think is the reason for the 5/6pm announcements.

I am going & from memory Supermarine normally put the town team up on a white board with the trialist names on it. If so, will take a pic.

To be honest, when I started looking at I expected us to be worse off, it reassured me at least!

The Diamandis era was Friday 5pm because its something companies always do to bury bad news/negative statements. Its the weekend so people are less likely to lose their heads over it.

Fair, but I can't really think of a good way of measuring that (in advance of actually playing the league, obviously). If you can think of one, I'm happy to try and work it out... Maybe squad value on Transfermarkt? But that's generally quite random for lower league footballers. Fwiw, squad value in/out for Swindon is £630k in, £1.26m out - maybe that's a better reflection of how we "feel" about the squad changes?

Could be ok then as not much difference at the moment is there.

I look at it like this.
JoJo Out - new fella and Ward. Not much change
Egbo Out - Slim Shady in. Hopefully not much in it.
Conroy Out - Harries and the other fella in. Quietly confident that’s an improvement.
Payne possible out - Darcy possible replacement. Could go either way.
Now the crux. No Simpson. No Davison and as yet no like for like replacement. Get that sorted well and we should be OK.
So, yes incoming is slow and sporadic but just 2 quality signings and we can get HMS Piss the League out of dry dock.
Providing Reed and McGirty stay, of course.

That back line is mostly unproven. And we've no strikers. IMO We'll only know when the season gets going
