What was the reaction when we signed Simpson before the start of last season, he hadn’t scored a league goal. 🤷🏼♂️
Also, Davison had a decent scoring record for US… …and the large majority wouldn’t want him back either….

Indeed. There are young players who look like boys and there are young players who at least look like they are up for the fight of league 2, which Simpson and Davison did. None of Parsons/Massey/Wakeling fit that later build. They are kids who need to have incredible talent to work at this level.

I don't think anyone minds having a Parson/Massey/Wakeling or two around the squad. Having three (and Cowmeadow, but I think he's more of a winger?) feels like a bit much, unless we're hoping to get one or more of them out on loan. I can only imagine one or two more senior strikers will follow.

What’s the point of signing a player on a 1 year deal and then loaning them out.
We winged it last season when Davison and Simpson were our only options

Surely we aren't expecting Massey to be regular starter? Isn't he 16?
EDIT - just checked, he's 18

There will be a clause for an additional year as there is in most contracts.

Indeed, unless we have a 1/2 year option to extend. You can't make much money from a 1 year contract if he's any good.

Massey, Wakeling, Parsons, Cowmeadow and Dabre to replicate Tottenham's 'famous 5' under Ardiles and we'll piss the league.

But he hadn’t flopped at Barrow
He played four games, how many did Simpson score in his first four games with us? Exactly none, the difference is we persevered (largely because we had no other choice) and now some want to pay half a million for him. How about you give the young lad a chance before writing him off?

Its difficult to say what the plan is right now.
Do we think having Reed, William/Gladwin, Mckirdy, French, Iandolo and possibly Ward is enough experience.
Having been heavily linked to Bamba I suspect we don't. But I'll feel happier when we get some older heads* through the door.
* at least with some league experience. I know Shade and Aguiar have some, as does Devine.
We are looking to turn around cast offs and prove the releasing club wrong. But that ain't going to happen overnight.

Swindon Town millennials FC Sol Bamba seems to be the only millennial we're linked to and he'd old enough to be this chaps Dad.

I think the reaction is more to do with whether he is genuinely seen as a starter. We now have 4 strikers including McKirdy which is as many as we had at any point last season. My fear is we are going to give someone like him or Parsons a dozen games to show what he can do and if that doesn’t work scramble around at the end of the window for something else.

With no players leaving and Payne not contracted, we have 19 out of the 25 Lindsey wants.

So let's summarise our *Replacements*
Wollacott > Brynn
Hunt > Devine
Egbo > Shade
Conroy > Harries
Odimayo > Brennan
When you list it like that, it's really not that bad. The evidence to suggest we're serious about promotion will be dependant on the forwards we bring in and if Jack Payne signs a new deal. So far I'm content. Just hoping for some big news next week.
It's that time again, where Pericardinho tells everybody to calm down a little! I have decided, based on a Melksham Town friendly and a quick google, that Wakeling is fast and can operate all along a front 3. Therefore, I've decided he is nothing more than a JML replacement. That's what's making me feel better anyway. JML to Wakeling. Let's be honest he can't be any worse.

True! Its not quite the progress many were hoping for this season though.
