Quote from: The Artist Formerly Known as Audrey
Lindsey says he wants a squad of 25 maximum. Will be bringing in more experienced players.

Wasn’t close to following Garner to Charlton.

that sounds very encouraging

That quote about bringing in more experienced players the best news of the lot.
More optimism if we do.

£5m minus £300,000 which we received in compo

20% of £4.7m should be £840,000

I assume it's worked out as £5M less 20% = £1M, - £300K = £700K

Fair play. I had written him off as destined for non league. The lad has done well.

He's come a long way since Wellens loaned him out. Good luck to him.
Let's hope the money can fund a marquee centre forward!

Tent Alexander Arnold?

He will do😀
To stop any confusion tho,

Who is a marquee person?
/mɑːrˈkiː/ being the main performer or sports person in a show, film, sports event, etc. or being the performer, etc. whose name will attract most people to the show, film, etc.: The studio chiefs wanted a marquee name in the lead role, not some unknown.4 days ago

we've lucked out with Twine!

The lad had a fantastic season. He's earned his move and shot at the big time.

But while I was sorry to see him go, never in a million years did I think he'd be a 4m+ premier League player in a years time.

so we've lucked out on the speed of that move. While I'd love the money to go to the team, at least some, it can fund a large part of the clubs ground purchase or debts.

I assume it's worked out as £5M less 20% = £1M, - £300K = £700K

That might be how Nixon's calculated it but it's bad maths as sell of fees are based on a percentage of the profit on sale.   So the 300k is taken off the sale price before the percentage is calculated.

So  5m - 0.3m = 4.7m * 20% = £940k

It has to work that way or we wouldn't have got anything had they sold him for £1.5m or less.
