The club's notorious for data driven approaches to recruitment and having set profiles for each position are Luton, Peterborough, Franchise, Brentford, Barnsley and FGR, who all on the whole sign so many gems and very few duds. The level of signings vary massively too from Premiership youngsters our of contract to depths of non-league. Also helps maximise the available budget, probably recruiting to a squad level higher than what your budget should dictate. Certainly seems the way to go of well executed.

Just wondering if anyone got examples of players that had signed for a club who had the perfect data stats but never delivered. Performances are not guaranteed which could be for many reasons so computer stats shouldn't be the only reason a player is purchased.
I'll throw a guess out there ...

Paul Pogba pre ManUre
Ronaldo pre ManUre

Both seemed invincible but turned out to be less worth than was paid for transfer

I think the data that led to the signing of those two was in financial spreadsheets, rather than performance analytics.

I think Pogba is good example where as Ronaldo had previously done it for many years and have to appreciate he's at the end of his career

Deffo agree with this! Part of the cultural problem at Utd, everything is for commerical reasons rather than footballing reasons IMO

Probably X'ing over into the What's Wrong With Football thread, but in total agreement with you the everything about Manchester United and the Glaziers is detrimental to football

Re. McKirdy, don’t be surprised to see Garner come in with an offer.
If they do then he has to be worth circa £500k even based on one good season, Charlton have money despite their haggling, FFS they paid us just under £1m for DJ based on about 1 season in the 1st team.

I thought DJ was undisclosed? Where did you get that figure from?

Mckirdy had been VERY quiet on Instagram. For someone so prolific he's not posted anything since 2nd June.
