Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of forward Alex Gilbert on a season-long loan deal from @BrentfordFC.

He's 6ft so quite tall for a winger

19 year old forward yet to gain any league experience. Bit of a strange signing tbh but Garner must see something in him

Concludes our business for the transfer window. So, it’s the closest to a striker we’re going to get.
Hopefully he’ll be more successful here than the previous 2 loanees from Brentford.

hmmm.

if that's all then it's a lot better of a team than I hoped for.

but it's also frustrating to be so close to a promotion challenging team, a striker away

(yes. obviously imo)

still, if whoever we wanted fell through, and nobody was available then what can be done

Not sure he is exactly what we need.

I guess he adds depth.

We can still sign free agents.

Breaking into a top championship team last season is a million miles away from being a decent league 2 player if given the opportunity!

If we have been after him for 4 weeks then the 2 Ben’s are clearly seeing something promising in him and hopefully something different to what we have already

Doesn’t fit the profile of what Garner said we’d be after so there’s a striker somewhere else we were targeting. Hope he works out. My expectations have been managed by today.

I can’t see that he was the player they were watching as he was described as a player who’d played abroad.  Whoever it was it didn’t happen.

Gilbert is mainly a left winger so has been bought in as back up I assume

I would have liked an experienced striker in this window. The Ben's have obviously liked what they see in Gilbert so let's see what he adds to the team
