I will add one worry in that Bristol Rovers fans complained that Garner didn’t sign strikers but this time around Chorley is above him.

Don't think he was fully in charge of recruitment at Rovers either.

True. My point is I’m hoping BC is better than his counterpart at Gas.

The general consensus on the gas forum seems to be that Mitchell-Lawson played well for them in his first spell there, but not in his second.

Some seem surprised that Garner is signing him as Mitchell-Lawson apparently fell out of favour under him. Although he would have been a first-teamer in L1 there, and he's a prospect/fringe player in L2 here.

Not disputing this but I'd be very surprised if the likes of Jonny Williams will be playing for £1.3k a week

It might be £1300 basic that comes under the cap but appearance fees, goal bonuses  could be outside?

I seem to recollect that Paul Tisdale immediately prior to being given the boot, to be replaced by Joey Barton, complained about a lack of strikers.

I think it is a lesson learned for Ben Guardiola Garner, who wasn't responsible for recruitment.  Note: Guardiola did sign Jesus.

It’s good that we are signing up young players. It’s good that we’ve gone down the route of building a squad rather than just getting a first XI in and hoping that will suffice. Great that there seems to be some long term planning.

Winger/Midfield is hardly our main concern now. We desperately need more depth and experience up front and probably need more depth at centre half.

Still have a couple of weeks till the transfer window closes, think it may be a last week of the window kinda deal if they are weighing up their options.

Ha then you are disputing it  Cheesy We are under the embargo and we can't get round it with bonuses etc apart from promotion bonuses so the £1300 is the maximum weekly wage

A worrying comment from today's press conf - (Paraphrased) - we are working on recruitment, but ideally want 1 more but if the right player does not come along then I wont do it.

It worries me that we can see we probably need at least 2 strikers - all we are signing is midfielders - I really hope this is just a bluff and they fully intend to sign at least 1 experienced striker, as Simpson looks like he needs help and is probably to young and experienced to rely on to be lone striker every game.

10 days until transfer window slams shut....let's hope we don't sign more midfielders or we may have to play them in goal to give them a game.

We're trying to sign the players we need and won't sign the players we don't need.

How on earth is that worrying? It is exactly what every club should be doing.

There is nothing in the comment that suggests we don't intend to get an experienced striker in. In fact, it clearly states that they do want another player in and he's mentioned getting in another 'forward' just about every time he speaks to the press.

It's so relieving to see people making up things to be negative about again.

I find it amusing when people seemingly think we're not after a striker simply because we've signed players in other positions. As has been said, GP signed pretty late on, Grant (not a striker obviously but player of the season in L2) was also a late signing.  Business can and will be done later in the window.

Yep, we obviously need a striker (or 2) and I’d be truly amazed if Garner was oblivious to this.

However, I guess the slight concern is that Rovers fans cite a lack of striker as part of Garners downfall there.

I will be somewhat disappointed if the window slams shut and we haven’t signed an out and out striker but if we don’t then I’ll assume it was because the deal wasn’t there to be done rather than Garner just not wanting to sign a striker...unless he comes out and says that himself...
