I hope that Rob Hunt or A Grant does not leave, they was a couple of our best players last season and I'm sure this season with better players around them they would be fine.

If Wellens wants any of our players maybe he can start with some of the crap he signed this season who he thought was fine for this level with the budget he had, they must be good players for him to sign them.

I would be surprised if Wellens didn't come in for anyone, there are quite a few of the L2 winning team still here that played their best football under him, so they may wish to follow him again, and he did list his 4 (?) players he thought would walk into any team (Hunt, Fryers, Grant, Baudry)
Assuming that any of the players want to play for him again and don't see him as a bit of fraud now like we do. Taking all the credit when winning and then washing your hands of things when losing won't sit well with some players I doubt.  On the basis that something did go on with Doughty and witnessing Wellens alienation of some players like Broadbent I can't imagine all of the players will have that high an opinion of him.

Can’t afford to lose Grant. Not been at his best this year but would’ve been helped if we’d had Lyden or another competent midfielder alongside him and Matt Smith. None of Twine, Palmer or Lyden can perform the role Grant does and highly doubt we will pick up better on a free now.

Jewell was/is responsible for the signings though. Both the good ones and the shit ones

I wouldn't say I see him as a fraud, it was just that towards the end his ego seemed to be writing cheques his ability and CV couldn't cash.

The jury is still out on who royally fucked up recruitment this season.

To be fair to Wellens he had the right idea in keeping the core squad together, but we lost our GK, entire front line and our most creative midfielder. The replacements have in most cases not lived up to expectations at all whether this was down to budget or our own scouting I guess we will never know. But it has certainly left him looking like he jumped ship at his own mistakes.

The next 12/18 months will show if Wellens is a fraud or not, as that Salford team is not his at the moment. But with 2 transfer windows and his own players, he either gets Salford promoted or is back on the scrapheap where we found him.

I still think he got lucky last season and in his wildest dreams he couldn't have expected last seasons team to click like it did and this season reality set in and he was found wanting.

He left us for a Club in a League below, who arent accepted as being 'bigger' club and left us in a shit state, of which he HAS to take a percentage of 'blame' for... The percentage is what we can all argue about.

As you say time will tell to see if he is a fraud.

One thing for certain though, is he is a hypocritical cunt.

Surely at the end of the day Wellens must have some say on which players he wanted to sign? For him to come out in the press and say how woefully short we are at Centre Midfield and then loaning out Palmer and not replacing him on Transfer Deadline day raised alarm bells for me.

I confess, I have no real views on Wellens now that he has moved on and is now employed by another club.

Will he get Salford promoted? I'm confident that he will.  Given their resources, I suspect that even a casual football supporter could do so as well.

I'm not sure Wellens has the spending power he thought he would at Salford unless he is just doing a Wellens to try and get players on the cheap.

Wellens didn’t stay here long enough to prove either way as to whether last season was a fluke or not.
In the infancy of this season it certain looked like he got lucky with the recruitment last season, everything falling into place, I mean Doyle has never had a scoring run like that before and will never again.

Would he have turned this season around? We’ll never know...

Time will tell about Wellens managerial career.

Wellens has never been very good at telling the truth....
