Because the window is open for a few more weeks, and it's a big personal decision.
It's completely his prerogoative.
Why would we expect him to behave differently from the way any of us would. If my existing employer offered me a 25% pay cut, take it by October 12th or piss off, I'd absolutely hang around for as long as I want and try to get them to come up while looking at every offer, particularly if the only offer I have on the table elsewhere is 200 miles away and for a worse company.
Except we're not his existing employer are we? I assume he's been earning precisely nothing since his contract ended at the start of July. Wouldn't take many more weeks out of work before the benefit of a larger contract is negated by his loss over the last two+ months. I agree it's a bitter pill to swallow to take less money at a higher level after a good season last year, but he chose not to sign the original deal. You'd think if he was was deemed worth it, we'd narrow the gap to save his pride and allow us all to move on, but we're not party to the discussions, so this is where we are. Better for anyone if he stays or goes this week.

if he's lost Woolery through tardiness,
That would be more frustrating than losing players because of finances. Did Wellens say it was down to a lack of money specifically?

he didn't say anything specific as to the reasons.
only that he gave the players he wants, he wants to sign Woolery who is sat at home, "read into that what you want"
or similar
it was specifically mentioned by the interviewee before about support from upstairs. so it wasn't a dog at Woolery!

Cheers.
Reading that it seems to me as though he's complaining that people just aren't acting with enough urgency, or appear not to be. Not necessarily a case of the money not being available, but people dragging their feet for some reason.
Isn't he mates with Jewell?

He's frustrated, he's impatient and he wants to compete. All qualities we love about him.
I don't blame him for having those emotions. I don't blame Power for being a little bit wary of spending either. It's concerning that they may not be on the same page though.

Isn't he mates with Jewell? agree the reasons aren't apparent, could be anything. I get the impression he thinks the budget is there, simply because he's been pagmatic and realistic in the past about such things. I did pick up on him saying something about flitcroft "had 2.5M in League 2" a few interviews ago. but I think that was more because targets were simply too expensive. ,

Largely agree but I think people are reading too much into one interview. Wellens was clearly very frustrated and he was pissed off about the way the game went, so he was venting. That's understandable and given we haven't heard too much of that before (although it has been there before, remember when social media got their knickers in a twist about him criticising lack of support from fans in games) it comes across as alarming and so possibly more serious than it is. I think he's just letting off a bit of steam about what must be a frustrating period for any manager to operate in.

I agree, it was the interview with a wounded animal straight after a game that he obviously wanted to win even if most fans weren't bothered, emotions were still still running high and he was straight out of the dressing room after bollocking the players.

I don't agree, he's sounded frustrated about the lack of players for a while. but yes it may have been worse because the need was underlined in big red felt tip yesterday
