I agree - if we’re scraping around to compete with others for a half-decent Doyle replacement, then shifting Twine, Reid, Hope, Palmer etc off the wages bill can only be a good thing.  We’ve made some good acquisitions, but the time has come to do a bit of trimming.  I continue to be so impressed with the way that Power/Wellens etc go about their business. It’s really encouraging and such a contrast to the approach adopted by others in the past.

Let's not forget the importantce of having Jewell on board we've come along way since the dark days of sherwood being around

I will say now, I have a feeling that Jonny Smith will be player of the season this year.

To achieve that we must be sure that the TEF don't sponsor him then!

For him to achieve this then we have to make sure the TEF do not sponsor him!

This is indeed how I feel, Woolery will be 3 weeks behind so not ready for playing for a while.

Isgrove has already been adequately replaced by Payne/Smith.

I will say now, I have a feeling that Jonny Smith will be player of the season this year.

Agree about Jonny Smith - 1 game, huge impact.  Sort of matches the comments made by fans from the other clubs he’s played at.
You’re spot on about Woolery.  We saw exactly the same with Grant - when he eventually signed, he missed out on some friendlies when he ought to have been playing, and Wellens said that he wasn’t ready.

Yes indeed.  It’s a real team effort both an and off the pitch.

I think Jewell knows what he's doing where as Power was turning to Sherwood who never had a clue about lower League players

Decent squad player but if we are tight on funds for wages then it could be spent far better elsewhere on other players.

He had his chance and wouldn't drop his wage demands plus he hardly played last season so wasn't deemed good enough for league one by Rovers even when they were struggling

I'd take Bennett. He has to work for your system, which i'm sure he does for us. Subject to cost of course.

However i would say we are assembling alot of physically smaller players. Thats caused us problems before. Hope the number 9 ends up being 6ft+. Also is a plus point to keeping Woolery.

I'd take Bennett if it didn't prevent us getting the striker(s) we are absent of.

going to need a squad with so many midweek games, and ours is bit weak in depth

Only ifnthe budget allows and it's not in place of a decent forward as were definitely up front

He wasn't played because they had to pay him extra when he made first team appearances etc and was their highest paid player too, not really because he wasn't good enough.

Although most Rovers fans seem to think he wasn't good enough anyway!

As I put earlier, if he is cheap enough and it doesnt stop us getting in other players in positions that are needed like a striker then go for it.
