Are we expecting more imponderables to be signed this week?

I would like to think so, but I feel even if we do sign one of the "imponderables" this week then they won't be ready to play on Saturday from the off in the opening fixture of the season and would be more likely to be in line for the 1st league game of the season next week.

The transfer window refuses to shut until 5th October for international transfers and the 16th October for domestic transfers, thats still 6 weeks away yet so expect a late flurry this season as things pan out for the better or worse for clubs.

Wellens says he's treating Saturday like a friendly, so any new players might be given some minutes.

Having said that, what Wellens says and what Wellens does are often very different things.

it is impossible to guess what Wellens will do at any point, which at times is frustrating as a fan but must be awful to prepare to play against as an opposing side which is by contrast good.

I'm sure Power would want him to play his first elevwn and to win the game and get through to the next round

Agreed. I can’t see RW going into a competitive match with an attitude of it is only like a friendly.

There is no way he won't take the game as seriously as a league game. Its mind games from him again to lull the opposition into a false sense of security and take the pressure off our team in saying he doesn't desire a good result...he does.

I see the Mansfield Manager used a similar tactic in his pre match presser to try and lull Preston into a false sense of security. This came after he moaned about the timing of the match...

Quote
25th August - BBC
"It's ludicrous. We're three weeks out from being ready,"

Which I found an odd excuse because three weeks from Aug 25th makes that about the 15th Sept. So he's essentially admitting that he hasn't got his squad prepared even for the start of the League season. Doesn't instill confidence.

He then tried the reverse psychology approach to cover his tracks...

Quote
29th August, Pre Match - The Chad
"It's affected the plans as we've had to re-arrange, restructure and re-organise but it's something we've adapted to...Obviously, you have to be thinking of selection, personnel. There's a lot of variables you have to give consideration to...

...It's not ideal. It's something that's been chucked at us, we just have to accept it and get on with it."

The Result: They lost 5-0 I think.

Also, has Coughlan been taking tips from Reg?  Hmmm

I thought Mansfield were going places and meant to be the new Bournemouth with their wealthy owner😃
