Perfection is not attainable

Me too, anything to while away the minutes Smiley
When the club are being so quiet and cagey about trialists/new signings it is fun to guess at who may be signings for us or trialing.

We seem to do this far more under Wellens than I can remember with any other manager.

Yes Gary Alexander played under a pseudonym years ago but otherwise I can only remember last season when Baudry, Isgrove, D'Ath and Fryers all arrived under a veil of secrecy from the club after having trial games for us, D'Ath not being offered a contract in the end.

He does like to keep his cards close to his chest does our Richie.

But, under the current climate of no games to watch, little STFC news coming out then I feel the club should try and engage more with fans re pre season fixtures and at least who we are playing etc and do their best to at least provide goals after the game to at least show desperate fans what to expect from us.

For me thats the least they can do, Blackpool are showing all their friendlies for free on Youtube, well done to them for showing some initiative and feeding a fanbase that is hungry for matches something, actually showing fans they are appreciated.

it's been "A. Trialist" officially from the club for a while. But with fans and media in attendance they are soon named.

would be good to get pre season media coverage, but I guess costs are involved with streaming

Which may be great for them, but would not be ideal for a club that is trying to hide the identities of their trialists.

Yeah its always been A Trialist, but as you say the names often come out despite them tryign to hide them. Thats how it has always worked, Wellens seems far more aware of not naming trialists thans any other Town manager I can remember, all part of his style I guess.

Blackpool don't seem to have a problem in showing a few trialists playing for them though, I am not sure entirely why Wellens does have the problem with it. I would think we are unlikely to lose anyone due to their name coming out in the public.

I personally don't remember one instance of a player playing for us as a trialist then us being gazumped in not signing them if we actually wanted them.

Nixon: 'Showing big interest in Hallam Hope '

Vale Journo: 'Understand that Port Vale have NOT spoken to Swindon striker Hallam Hope. Not pursuing a move for him at the moment either'

How long is 'at the moment'?

Feel sorry for them, perhaps they could do with going to speak to someone?

I'm happy for him to do whatever he thinks is best. I think he's already demonstrated that he knows the game very well and I don't see how I, or others, are in a position to disagree with him.

Whether or not we know who our trialists are has exactly zero impact on our fortunes this season. Keep it up, I say.

He clearly loves every single 'Any Swindon* news, Al?'

The thing that would annoy me is the way people respond to his rumour mill-

Nixon: 'Leeds United want Ryan Kent at Rangers'

Replies:

'Any Swindon news, Al?'

'Any Forest news, Al?'

taken from elsewhere.

Who's this? Chris Hussey has been mentioned.

I'm sure that's Hussey, the legs seal it for me (seriously)

Quite surprising but I liked him when he played for us and I can see why Wellens would like him.

Out and out left back as far as I know so if we did sign him (hypothetical I know but let's go with it because it is the rumours thread after all) I can imagine him starting the season at LB and Hunt would move to RB as I can't see him getting dropped any time soon which would leave Caddis on the bench. That would be the start of a strong looking bench.

Interesting.

Anyway I make no apology for re-posting Hussey's goal at Luton in 2017 which I was slap bang, right behind and which is one of my all time favourite Town goals...(1:24)
