I'd suggest the lad needs to be careful, he has had 1/2 - 3/4 of a decent season, if he has another season in L1 finds his consistency he can be a really good player, BUT for him to leave now for another club after a patchy first season for a bigger contract it can surely ruin his career as if he fails no club at a decent level club would likely touch him.
With salary caps on the horizon he may not get the big pay day afterall.
But this could also be a game to push up the offer from Wellens to get a better contact.
Absolutely right.

Is there anywhere to rewatch this interview with Wellens during the virtual open top bus parade...

Having a read on the Bolton forums I had no idea how fucking moany they are and they seem to hate us all because a couple of fans questioned their ability to pay more wages for a player than we can and that we have said they shouldnt be allowed to sign players while theirs are furloughed (apparently) and that hit a nerve. Interesting stuff, bunch of grumpy Northern bastards who still think of themselves as a massive club and that Evatt will have them walking the league this coming season. Yes they are a big club but they are there on merit, they were relegated for essentially overspending, take your punishment. They seem to think they are forerunners in the chase for DJ too They also think they are in with a great chance of Andy Lornegan, Luke Garbutt, Jordan Graham, Nathan Thomas, Kieron Freeman, Callum Gribbin and Camerson Borthwick-Jackson all released by Premier League sides, set your sights high and ignore that impending £1.5m wage cap! none of them will come cheap and all have suitors in the Championship and L1 so why the hell would they drop to L2? I think they could take the arrogance award 2020! I have not seen one single poster on here moaning about them signing Doyle, they like to make out there are so hard done by. I think they need a hug and a wake up call to reality of being in league 2 with the Barrows, Morecambes and Macclesfields. Gotta hold my hands up and admit it was me questioning them on Twitter. Tbh, I asked perfectly legitimate questions as to any embargo and got met with a hail of abuse. You know you’ve won the argument, though, when it ended with a ‘we always kick the shit out of you’ and not actually addressing the question I asked. I told them to enjoy their elongated stint in the basement and a Billy Big Bollocks attitude will do them no favours in L2. If anyone thought Bradford were a bit up themselves last season they’ve got nothing on Bolton.

I thought it was on Facebook, but I, like a fucking idiot, ventured into "that" Facebook Town fans group. Fuck me gently what a bunch of wankers, "why havent we signed any new players yet" "Poundland Power", "we should have signed Doyle again" " why hasn't isgrove signed" .... Fucking bunch of mouth breathing wall spunkers. If anyone thought Bradford were a bit up themselves last season they’ve got nothing on Bolton.

Yates is not worth £500k in any world, sorry but if they are willing to throw that sort of money around for a player of his standard then we will not (and rightly so) match that, goodbye Yates. Yates is a £200k max IMO plus structured add ons, if he wants to play for us then he can turn down a move to them, if he choses them over us then good luck to him.

The modern day social media fan certainly has a low IQ & unfortunately now has many outlets to vent their views. We should have just re-signed their legend Sendles-White to keep them quiet for a while #WeWantOutClubBack

The whole Doyle thing is a bit over done. If the original season long loan deal had been stuck to then Doyle on a free transfer from Bradford chooses a northern club giving out a 3 year would be no big deal.
Because we had to sign him on a perm in January then it becomes a big story because Bolton sign/steal our player.
Power/Jewell/Wellens did what needed to be done to keep Doyle to get promotion. They didn't want to risk a long term contract either in January or now on good money.
Got the sense from the virtual bus tour that Wellens is a bit pissed off with the in limbo situation with next season and was giving a bit of stick about agents playing hardball.
Think BBC Wilts got him on a bad day but also Wellens was taking the pass and giving a bit back.

Think we have kind of lost/lost on the Doyle thing, albeit mainly due to C-19. He was out of form when he came back, would possibly have kicked on and got us there if needed but then the season ground to a halt. So we paid some cash for a player that with hindsight (nigh impossible with what's happened in 2020) we didn't probably need, c£100k for 5 games. In a way the bigger ballache is Hope who I think was undoubtedly bought on the basis that Doyle was not coming back and doesn't really have a L1 pedigree, don't know what we paid but that seems to be cash up the wall also.

Bolton presently seem to veer between being absolutely skint and being rolling in cash almost by the minute at the moment. They have pissed a lot of neutrals off up here, not only by the way they were with Barrow, but also the the unconcealed glee that many of their supporters greeted the shenanigans at Wigan with, any credit/sympathy their fans gained during the Anderson palaver has ben lost now.

I look forward to their impending financial disaster

I did laugh when he said about Vigouroux. Said he wanted McCormick to stay and that he was a valuable member of the squad and didnt complain about not playing. Then said Vigouroux would act like you stole his girlfriend if he wasnt in the team and didnt want players with that attitude. Definitely no love lost there. Hes right.

Absolutely, can't have moody petulant people as players, we have enough of those as fans!
