Afternoon Alan,

You mentioned yesterday that today could be a busy day at Swindon Town.  Any more news on this?

Apparently, Bolton are still under an EFL embargo whereby they can only pay a maximum of £2k pw.

Surely, we’d offer him more than that.

Not heard that rumour, everyone knows they are under embargo and can only sign free agents for another season but no idea where that wage cap rumour has come from, sounds unrealistic especially where Doyle is concerned.

Nothing on any of the Bolton forums stating about an actual "wage cap" at all.

Just checked and they are, indeed, still bound by an EFL embargo on the maximum they can pay a player.

Seems odd. Why would Doyle and probably Sarcavic join for £2k pw when both were earning more than that with us and Plymouth.

Where does it say this Aud? I can't find any mention anywhere of a wage cap.

How could they afford 2 players who were the highest earners at their respective clubs (allegedly) last season and both teams were promoted.

Maybe that’s why the transfers have yet to be ratified.

From the Bolton News. Doesn’t actually mention the amount but Bolton fans have mentioned £2000

Speaking last month, chief executive Emma Beageard told us: “We are aware of the conversations but not directly involved. We will support the player wage cap thinking as it will be more important than ever that clubs are sustainable going forward.”

Bolton are already bound by a form of restrictions as per the EFL embargo inherited by Football Ventures when they bought the club in August last year.

Wellens said we couldnt match 3 yr deal, he wanted, and that the last time he played in league one he got relegated

He also says all these transfer rumours are bollocks as we dont know what is happening

er, hope he's on a classic Wellens throw them off the scent ...

"Doyle gone, Rotherham had an offer for Yates that we can’t match, DJ has 19 other clubs after him and Isgrove’s agent is asking for more than we’re willing to offer. Fucking hell this has not gone to plan" (Marley)

I'm pretty sure RW dropped a very large Donahue hint, whilst wryly smirking.

Isgrove wasn't the same player in the second half of the season, which might mean Wellens is reluctant to pay much.

Wellens did very well to pour ice cold water on transfer and contract activity. Setting those expectations as low as hell. He knows what he's doing.

It was a thoroughly miserable 'celebration' though!
