Perfection is not attainable

I believe that Town did offer the contract.

Having read it through fully, yes you are right, which surprised me.

As PP says it would be very unlikely that there wasn't an "international clearance" clause that if it failed to come through then we wouldn't sign him.

Why would we have a player on our books that we couldn't play because he didn't have international clearance? just a waste of a wage and of no benefit to the player or club.

Even if he did sign the contract, I'd bet my bottom dollar there's a clause saying the contract can be terminated immediately if international clearance isn't forthcoming.

They'd be mad not to. Otherwise, we could have a player on our books that we can't use?

Mansfield now favourites to sign Zach Clough from Florest on loan for the season. Oldham wanted him but couldn't pay as much of his wages as Mansfield can.

You need to get clearance from the FA that holds the player registration (I think).

You need international clearance to sign a player from a team that plays in any other league, even signing players from Scotland and Wales is the same.

International clearance is not the same as work permits.

I think so, then to try and save face he began slagging off the club.

I do, too. It's disappointing that the Adver have spun it the way they have. Understand they have a duty to report everything but let's call a spade a spade

As others have said if he had signed properly, even awaiting international clearance, we would have announced it. I do remember an admin on one of the FB groups who has called quite a few signings before they happened, said one was due to be announced which it never and then he said there were delays.

The only thing I have thought is just after he supposedly signed they all went to Portugal, did they discover an attitude problem or perhaps something else whilst they were out there. Only other thing perhaps like Ruster from 03/04 the club discovered they would need to pay his old club a fee for him.

I can't see it being a wage thing as we have since taken another GK on trial, if it was down to that they would of just stuck with Henry.

Regardless of if we have stitched him up or not, based on what I saw of him against Birmingham we wont be missing out on much.

All quiet on the scarf above head front today.

Seems like some of the triallists have been around for a couple of weeks or more now, which is unusual if there is no intent to sign them. Otherwise it's a bit unfair on them in terms of losing the opportunity to find another club.

Might be some bean counting going on behind the scenes or just hedging bets if TD and JMG can't be shifted.  Hmmm
