Also means less need for a dog midfielder. All our CMs apart from Dave (no longer wanted apparently) are playmaker types. I’d still like us to get one in. I’d take Carroll again.
Therefore I’d like us to go for:
2 strikers (1 loan and 1 perm) to go with Yates and Woolery
Number 10
Winger if we need to change system to 433 or 4231
CDM

At any level TBH any team with a 20 goal a season striker is obviously going to have a better season than a striker with 6 goals a season.... |

I would say that Tom Anderson will not be joining us then with Wellens stating "defensively we are sorted now after the signing of Ballard".
Interested in Darren Lyon though, hes a defensive midfielder on a free from Posh who started his career at Rangers and had a couple of season in the Jocks Premier division with Hamilton.
Didn't hit it off at Posh last season but has a good pedigree as a tough tackling midfielder, if Toums goes it would be better to get in a perm signing than a loan player IMO.

Yeah very true but you have more chance of getting away with poor defensive play at this level as long as you've got finishers at the other end. In the Premier League and Championship you'd just lose 6-2 every week. |

Last two times we got promoted from this division it was off the back of a strong defence
Bury were promoted conceding the same amount of goals as we conceded, Newport made the play offs with 3 more conceded than us. |
