Wonder where he'll end up. No matter what anyone says, he was class for us for those first 2 seasons.

I seem to recall before Kasim joined us that on a professional level there were concerns about his application and dedication to the game and as a result had kind of drifted in his career. Of course he certainly made an impact here, however, looking at him now makes me realise that he has turned out more or less the way others judged his early years. Also as has been mentioned he would not have been the first player to have had his head turned by getting international call ups and having a bigger opinion of themselves as a result.

Unfortunately, there aren’t going to be many experience strikers wanting to come to a club 15th in league 2.
I’m surprised we haven’t signed Noel Hunt on.
Good job then as we are 14th Wink

I can't believe that some people genuinely were expecting us to sign an experienced striker straight away, these 2 are exactly the type of signing that we have become accustomed to and it may work it may be shit, who knows.

I am glad that Wellens didn't hang around long in getting bodies in, I hope we sign Nelson and send Woolf back who for me has been too hit and miss and his long distribution most of the time has been woeful.

Ben House is 6 foot 1 accoring to my Reading supporting mate, and about 15 stone a proper lump of a man who puts himself about a lot and has a lot of control and although not fast has a turn of pace.

Canise Carroll looks exactly what we need too, can fill in for several prositions, CB, DMC, RB and LB and an Irish U21 international, most Pox fans seemed upset to lose him pre season to Brentford even if they say on their forum now that they think hes shit Wink

Could mean that Toums is either out for longer than expected or actually off as hes not a natural CB and only 5 foot 10.

Very pleased with the first 2 signings, both raw and highly rated at their clubs, both youth/U21 internationals which often means they have a modicum of talent.

Now get us that LB please Mr Wellens.

I don’t think anyone was expecting good, experienced players to come in straight away.
However, going off direct quotes from Wellens these signings are not what he said he wanted / needed

Exactly that. And yes I am aware that it is 3 1/2 weeks until deadline day. But its not like we haven't seen what has happened so far before.

But as I said, loans are not a big deal anyway now - unless we are looking with a view to making permanent. We aren't likely to make the playoffs, then they go back. Dead rubber.

I am pretty sure that Wellens/Jewell mean when they say we are after experienced signings but I would guess that they are not 10 a penny unless you sign the freebies who have not been picked up yet. (often for a good reason).

I think both these signings will make the squad stronger even if both may not be constant starters.

I am glad that we have bodies in so soon rather than under Brown/Flitcroft which were left until the last minute mostly.

Yeah there is that.

Interesting to see who will be moved out on loan/sold.

You'd think Pryce and Romanski are two (the latter assuming Nelson is signed)
Vigs and TD possible sales/terminations?
Who knows.

Pryce, Romanski, Smith, McGlashan, Richards (possibly), Twine, Lancashire and Robertson. Some loans some perm outs.

As you say it all seems a bit wierd about Toums too, I like him but hes on a big wage and if Wellens doesn't fancy him (which is the rumour) then maybe.

PV... we've lost 2 and brought in 2, it isn't squad strengthening. That would have been keeping 2 and adding 2. The same sort of thing happened in 16/17, when the job lot of Chelsea kids came in, we had a little one match bounce of an unlikely win at Bolton, when we we had a bit of a buffer to the drop zone.... 5 defeats on the spin did for that and we dropped.

I’m not buying that it’s not what Wellens said he wanted, he’s made it clear he wants a striker and we’ve brought one in. Okay he’s not a ‘man’ but he’s strengthened a position we desperately needed to stengthen.

As for CC, okay it’s not a position that we seemed desperate for, but considering we have only 1 right back and left back at the club, have just lost a centre back who’s loan deal has ended and our defensive midfielder is crocked, the fact he’s signed a player that can possibly cover all these positions makes perfect sense.
