That's all well & good but if you had to hazard a guess at where we'd finish based on the current circumstances what would you say? I'll help you out by going first & say 6th.

The current circumstances are that we've a couple of centre halves coming back from serious injury, so we don't know how they'll rock up. PB says he hopes to get a loan in before Sat, so presumably he's not too optimistic.  There is just too much doubt to be able to form a sensible opinion at this stage.

Of course not, but we're all in the same boat when it comes to making a prediction in that we're all using the same circumstances to form our opinion. So on that basis what position would you say we will finish in at the moment based on what's available?

Your arse must be full of splinters and your fence buckling under the strain of said arse. After how many games played of the current season will you tell the poster when you feel confident of the teams promotional prospects?

You are quick to ask others of their thoughts and even quicker to challenge them on their thoughts and drag up previous posts to back any of your own statements.

I've also not yet studied too closely what the others in our Div have been up to over the summer....  a few snippets about Mansfield, Lincoln and Notts C, who seem to have splashed the cash.  But what about for example Cheltenham, has the Eisa money been used or just going in to keep them alive.... FGR, you'd imagine will have strengthened and what about Franchise  Hmmm

It's always worth looking out for a couple of basket cases... and Bury and Macclesfield might fit that bill

I'll give you until this time tomorrow to allow you time to carry out the relevant research. I'm highly confident you'll be fully equipped to make a fair judgement by then.

I assumed as you came up with a categoric 6th place finish, you'll have done the necessary analysis.  Care to share  Hmmm

Personally I'll wait for PV's overall opposition analysis.

It's impossible to analyse a 46 game season in advance as a supporter at this level, hence my 'fun' reference earlier. It would seem that you are very reluctant to commit to a final placing, presumably in anticipation of it being used against you in reference at the end of the season. I never once expected you to actually answer the question, just enjoying seeing the lengths you will go to to remain non-committal on a subject that in the grand scheme of life means very little. Or am I to expect an answer once PV carries out your research for you?

I agree Batch. I think with a solid Prem Centre Back on loan and perhaps another striker and a RB and I can see us pushing towards a play-off push.

Thanks PV. He hasn't made reference to any other barriers that would prevent him from giving an answer & I trust that Reg is a man of his word. Otherwise I'll claim this battle as a win for myself  Smiley

Best midfield in L2. Decent CB short of a good defence - Knoyle will be an improving asset.

Up front we may be underestimating young Twine. Sounds to me as if Brown is happy to start with him - at least until Richards is fit. Rotate Fortune and Adebayo. Have a fit Woolery coming off the bench.

Anderson seems like a new signing - maybe his goal tally will improve.

Goes to show that apart from the rubbish Flitcroft signed, the decent signings were played out of position.

Certain of play offs, half a chance of autos.

So you acknowledge we're not as good as last season as you had us down as runners up....

Top 7

1st - Luton
2nd - Swindon
3rd - Cambridge
-------------------
4th - Coventry
5th - Notts County
6th - Lincoln
7th-  Mansfield

Play off winners - Coventry

Relegation

23rd - Newport
24th - Morecambe

Got the PO winners right mind, whcih is quite impressive.

Good to see somebody who's prepared to reveal what he thinks without worrying about what somebody else might say about it 12 months down the line.
