Perfection is not attainable

Best midfield in L2. Decent CB short of a good defence - Knoyle will be an improving asset.

Up front we may be underestimating young Twine. Sounds to me as if Brown is happy to start with him - at least until Richards is fit. Rotate Fortune and Adebayo. Have a fit Woolery coming off the bench.

Anderson seems like a new signing - maybe his goal tally will improve.

Goes to show that apart from the rubbish Flitcroft signed, the decent signings were played out of position.

Certain of play offs, half a chance of autos.
I agree pretty much, I think if we can get the 2 CB's PB wants and another striker then we will be challenging for the autos, impossible to gauge fully until we have passed the transfer window though and also see what other teams have brought in.

Knoyle has bags of potential, Anderson seems to be a new player without Norris around after their spat.

I am currently cautiously optimistic.

So you acknowledge we're not as good as last season as you had us down as runners up....

Top 7

1st - Luton
2nd - Swindon
3rd - Cambridge
-------------------
4th - Coventry
5th - Notts County
6th - Lincoln
7th-  Mansfield

Play off winners - Coventry

Relegation

23rd - Newport
24th - Morecambe

Got the PO winners right mind, whcih is quite impressive.
Also how is he acknowledging that we are worse than last season? He thought we'd finish 2nd & was wrong so by saying he thinks we will finish in the top 7 he clearly thinks we are better than last season given we didn't reach the play offs!

I agree Batch. I think with a solid Prem Centre Back on loan and perhaps another striker and a RB and I can see us pushing towards a play-off push.

Exactly my view, though I think we can get away without a RB, just.

Good to see somebody who's prepared to reveal what he thinks without worrying about what somebody else might say about it 12 months down the line.

Well here's last season's thread. Surprising since you've been on the forum 5 years that you never contributed especially as it seems so important to you...,

What on earth has my input from 12 months ago got to do with this thread? Firther proof that you are living in the past & further proof that this discussion means a lot to you given that you've gone to the lengths of finding the thread & read through it to see if I'd contributed

Bloody hell, that wasn’t half bad.

Reg, I’ve never said whether we are stronger or weaker than last season - I suspect we are stronger. I failed to see the fuckwit Flitcroft factor last season.

With hindsight his signings were in the main shite and those that weren’t were played out of position. The only ones which worked despite him were Taylor, Richards and Preston. All signed after he realised he had fucked up to start with.

I know.... it's all a bit of fun.  New season nearly upon us  Smiley  It's what sustains us through the bleak mid winter.

Imagine what it'll be like in 4 years, when the WC is in Qatar..... will us lower league fans be deprived of our traditional rights Hmmm

Adver says Brown hoping to get a defender in on loan on Monday waiting on a PL manager to call about a defender who is playing in their last pre-season game.

If those statements are linked, then it is only Man City that complete their pre-season ahead of Monday (until the Community Shield). I assumed that it would be Hughton at Brighton calling, but they have a couple of games to go.

I think he meant the defender was playing in a friendly yesterday but will be available after that.

Something we've had to respect many times in the past - Simon Ferry and Jordan Turnbull spring to mind.

I can't decide whether Brown/Power have mucked this up or they're not willing to bring someone in simply for the sake of it. I'm hope and lean towards the latter...
