Tbf, with Branco and Jones playing OK at the moment, he's unlikely to be thrown in straight away.

Wish we had a striker to hang our forlorn hopes on, though

He's eligible to play tomorrow according to the official STFC Twitter page.
2 1/2 year deal too.

I don't agree pp, he's a league 1 player with silky skills and flaws. can't see him playing above l1, OK maybe not in a bottom 6 team...

even so, the point was they all took time to get there..

Chelsea liked him as gave him a new 2 year contract in February last year, played 30+ games for their U23's and then sent out on loan for experience - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dion-conroy/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/255816/saison/2016/wettbewerb/CNAT/verein/3717

I am not holding out much hope but might be that player we need to keep a 4-4-2 when Branco / Jones are injured but can also play midfield.

Maybe we're chucking Branco up top?

Very true. But it's our usual punt with youth and inexperience again

when has it really been any different? We had Thomas and El-abd last season, we realistically have always brought "kids" in and then sold them on for a profit, going back many years......... must be hard convincing players with 10+ seasons to want to go play in Swindon

Based on very little, I'd rather someone like Dion than someone like El-Abd.

oh come on Gareth, we have pretty much an entire squad of kids. it may be a financial masterstroke but ...

I've only been a supporter since the late 80s, this is completely different to anything I've witnessed in that time. moderation of youth and a blend of kids  was the normal.

He has played in midfield apparently.

Still remember Sherwood's comment of "young players learn from experienced players"

it's a fair comment, but they aren't performing or are injured.

this cb/midfielder could be brilliant, I hope I don't sound like I'm writing him off. I'm far from bought in to this model and I am thus far failing to see the worth of Sherwood.

and while it is early days I wonder what the point of our youth system is given we are happier to develop loan players. it is of course subjective as to whether those loans we've brought in are any better than out own players.
