Offer Caddis for him in a player swap, and try to eke out another 100k from them. Cads and Ritchie back together again, and we get a decent L1 striker?

On the basis of stats alone, Leon Clarke should be number one choice. Thomas has had almost as many clubs but I have a hunch he's just about to hit his prime goal-scoring wise.

N'Guessan is not what we need and Sidibe is very injury-prone and isn't a goalscorer - avoid

I don't get the Clarke love in from most on here...when he signed last time, he looked a complete donkey. OK he's scored a few goals here and there since, but playing our desired style, requires a much brighter type than Clarke. It's a rare type of player, so they do cost...

Sam Morshead hasnt tweeted about the bid yet?

Maybe the club have screwed him over in favour of the beeb again and he's sat in a corner of the adver offices crying his eyes out?

Depends what the attitude issues were, we only ever heard one side of the story which we all believed at the time - however that source has since been found to be a often unreliable?

Did the incident not play out on the pitch and in front of sky cameras who then played it every hour for the next couple of days?

Still, lets resign Clarke and get Beauchamp out wide to whilst we're at it...

I wouldn't want Clarke back out of principle.

I would accept Leon Clarke through gritted teeth.

Although the idea of him scoring a winner against Sunderland, should we play them, is pretty awesome.

Dry your eyes Sam, I know it's hard to take but the board's minds have been made up. There's plenty more fish in the sea...

So high profile I included it in an essay.

I've never seen Clarke play, so I can't really comment on whether he's what we need, which is, as someone else has mentioned, another Chief.

A strong, big-arsed, back to goal, line leader that can receive the ball and lay it off to the multiple nippy little skilfull players we should have breaking from midfield and wide positions, but still having the pace to turn and make it to the back post in time to bundle in any scraps that come that way.

If that sounds like Clarke then I'd sign him regardless of his "huge" number of clubs. Actually when you look at his record he's only ever had 6 permanent clubs, and two of them were QPR at the time when Warnock was signing players on a whim and then ignoring them and signing a couple more, and here, when PDC seemed to be doing something similar. It only looks such a bitty playing history because of the loan periods he's had over the last few years trying to find a permanent home after all that bollocks.

There don't seem to have been any other reports of unprofessionalism at any other club, and he's not exactly alone as a player being accused of this and bounced out of Swindon by the last manager. He's scored goals anywhere he's been given a regular start. His last three loan clubs have all been keen to keep him.

His wages I think might be the big issue.

Coventry City sign former Reading striker Mathieu Manset despite still being under a transfer embargo.
Replacement for Clarke perhaps?

Clarke's recent goal scoring record speaks for itself. Would be a superb bit of business if we could bring him in.

Would also welcome Thomas, a slighty more skilful and pacier player than Clarke but he also knows where the goal is.

Sidibé? He would be an atrocious signing.

N'Guessan is a decent direct winger who may well be on the radar aside from a striker. The squad is lacking in wide players looking at it and with Rooney's departure yesterday I don't think we had a proper winger on the bench.

Their embargo operates on a one in one out basis accordin to their fans do it's plausible.

Surely not because he fell out with Di Canio? He was just the first in a very long line. Any legitimate reasons?

Interesting. I didn't think he looked like a donkey at all. In fact I thought he looked like a damn good addition to the squad.
