The reality is that, we are only likely to be able to get someone who is being 'offloaded' by their present club because they are (a) being paid too much, (b) are routinely underperforming, (c) are utter shite, (d) are about to appear in court for some despicable misdemeanour or (e) they are crocked  - or all of the above.  That being the case, the likelihood is that they are going to be disliked or hated by some or all of their present club's fans.  The chances of unearthing another Charlie Austin or attracting a real gem from a higher league club are as unlikely as getting regular communications from Lee Powers!

One club's donkey could be another club's star striker.

I guess Paddy Madden wasn't too brilliant at Carlisle

He wasn't, that's why they let him go for £15k!

Or going back a few years, how Northampton fans laughed at us for signing Sam Parkin.

http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/swindontown/news/10600747.Bournemouth_reject_Town_bid_for_Thomas/

Bid was 125k. Guessing this deal is dead now as Bournemouth seem to value him much higher.

Think we've dodged a bullet if he was going to be the answer to our one man up front..

Bournemouth fan on another forum said he's good as the lone front man.

Fair enough, all I've seen from them is he's gash!

Classic case in point. It's very often about finding the right "fit" at the right time for player/manager/club

Reference Sir Pissalot's thoughts, Clarke had a problem with his knee(?) at the end of last season if I remember rightly but played in pre-season for Coventry - may or may not be an ongoing problem.

Jed claimed a lot of clubs were after this striker whoever it may be.  That rules out Ranger I would think, who would want him?  Clarke - possibly, the guy from Millwall I would doubt as they don't want him and cannot give him away, so who does that leave?  Theo Robinson?  I don't know!

Interesting one. Various loans to give him first team experience,

My mate, a Reading fan reckons his finishing isn't the best but he is strong on the ball so could be the hold up forward we are crying out for.

I presume this is a loan?

I've convinced myself Ugwu could be true, that's not to say he would be our main target for the striker slot. Signing more than one striker was mentioned. Robinson seems to be attracting the most attention from other cubs but could we compete with championship clubs in his transfer?
